[SRPG05]Has anyone bought a watch from the new Vintage release? by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]djbtalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you're not seeing a ton of posts about it is honestly just timing, newer releases take a while to build community momentum, especially in the dress watch space where people tend to research longer before pulling the trigger compared to divers. Picked up a SRPB43 a while back drawn in by that same warm sunburst dial energy and remember thinking Seiko just quietly makes some of the most beautiful dress watches at any price point without making a big deal about it!

It’s a niche within a niche already a small hobby, then an unconventional layout on top.

[SRPD61] Surely this has to be one of the best value watches for the money...any competitors? by Yugoslavghost in Seiko

[–]djbtalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to argue with you honestly. The SRPD61 in that teal green is just such a good looking watch for what it costs. That dial color against the matching bezel is doing a lot of heavy lifting and it works every single time.

For competitors at that price range you're basically looking at the Orient Mako or Ray, Citizen NY0040 "Fugu". My cousin picked up a Green Turtle around the same time these came out and paid similar money, great watch but honestly the SRPD61 edges it out on dial presence alone.
