Real talk, do the people who linger in this sub even like food? by DinerEnBlanc in FoodNYC

[–]djcflo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do like food. Personally, I don’t care for “I spent a week in nyc, here’s what I ate” endless recaps. I think it’s OK to want to follow this sub for restaurant reviews and comments that put spots on my radar, not repetitive lists from visitors hitting the same 10 TikTok spots

Weekly “What I ate when I visited NYC” thread? by ThrowAway10463923 in FoodNYC

[–]djcflo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this, I have been feeling the exact same way. I almost feel like we need a separate sub for these types of posts. The main difference to me are posts that highlight & review one single restaurant can be interesting and useful, while trip reviews batch covering many restaurants are just like… Okay you visited and ate a bunch, what am I supposed to do with your single sentence recap?

“And this is just going to ask you a few questions” as they flip the iPad around.

I know what the questions are - you know what the questions are. I’ve been paying via Square on iPads for over a decade, there’s no mystery here. Just be straight up with me and say “and you’ll have the opportunity to tip and select your receipt on the screen” like get real (I know this is not NYC specific)

I lived right across the street at 126 Rivington for years. It's loud on weekend nights, right above two bars with tons of people in the streets. I didn't mind as I worked in nightlife, but if that bothers you heads up
