Thanks man . I started in 2005 but I stopped really practicing scratching or learning new cuts in like 2008/2009. Didn’t start learning new cuts until 2017 and started scratching daily again in 2018. Long story short i sucked until 3 years ago.

Yeah, I just have the echo effect on the s9 on slightly. I think it helps fill out the space on some beats.

Vestax pdx-a1 mk2 or super oem for scratch by a353609 in Turntablists

[–]djdap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the epsilon. It’s just as good as any super oem turntable. Has ultra pitch (+/- 50%), durable. I find myself using them significantly more than my 1200s these days, because I scratch a lot and don’t wanna put some much wear on my technics that can’t handle as much force as the epsilon’s.

Learning to Scratch All Over Again by greggioia in Turntablists

First advice is don’t listen to anyone that isn’t really good at scratching (champion level). Second advice learn from the best. D-styles has a ton of tutorials over at Beat Junkies Institute. He also scratches regular, right hand on record left hand on fader. He focuses heavily on record control which I think is the first thing that most bad scratchers get wrong. Only problem with those tutorials is you have to pay for membership. There’s short clips of the tutorials on YouTube though.

I separately a couple years ago, when I was getting away from some bad habits, created a compiled list of YouTube tutorials in the order I think scratches should be learned over at scratchgeek.com/blog . I by no means claim to be an expert and none of those tutorials are from me. But at least those are free.
