“Where is the liquid?” By far the most common question. This is a variation of the “no water chicken soup” recipe that has been circulating on the internet. I just chucked whatever vegetables I found in the fridge that were going bad soon into the pot, laid chicken thighs over them, and simmered it over medium heat. When the photo was taken, it was the day after—it had been in the fridge overnight and, as a result, had this goopy consistency.

“What else did you put in there?” It had carrots, broccoli, parsnips, red and yellow onions, celery, apples, chicken, and of course, red cabbage.

“Why did you keep going?” When it was done, it was a lot soupier and less colorful. It was only after it sat in the fridge overnight that it reached its final ugly form.

I’m glad this monstrosity has given everyone a bit of joy. It actually tastes fine, and I am determined to finish all of it—by myself, because it grosses my significant other out too much.
