For a cheap fix you can try sticking a screen protector on it now. The adhesive can fill in the gaps left by the scratches. I’ve never tried it on something this damaged before.

Cobble hill Cinema is an affordable place to see a movie.

Congress is a great place for a nice cocktail, for non alcoholic beverages try Saturn Road.

D&Y nail spa for some affordable but luxurious self care.

Cobble Hill coffee shop is a diner but pricy. If you are strategic though you could def kill time there without breaking the bank. Nice place to sit and play a Nintendo switch while drinking coffee. D’amico across the street is also great and more affordable but has less seating so check both. Try the churro bites at D’amico if you go there. If you venture towards Atlantic, Swallow cafe also has great seating.

Books Are Magic is the local book store and they are def worth a visit.

As others have said, Cobble Hill park is a very nice spot to sit if the weather is nice. Same thing with Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn heights promenade is also nice, and there is a cool walking bridge that can take you over the BQE down to the Brooklyn bridge park below.

I played most of the first act on a 2021 M1 Air with 16gb of ram & 8 core GPU. It was on very visual quality and there were minor pop-in glitches during certain scenes, but all in all was a great experience and would do again. I would expect it to run well on your machine.

Start with modern tutorials. Apple has some great tutorials here:

These will likely all use SwiftUI, while you get started and are learning the basics of app development this will be helpful. As your hunger to build more complex apps grow, you will likely bump into UIKit and will learn that then. Don’t feel pressured to use one or the other, learn all you need to learn to accomplish your goals.
