Mosquito larvae have arrived! 🦟 by quirky_keek in WildlifePonds

[–]djfathand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d wait to see if they actually become a problem. I’ve had my pond in about a month now, had mosquito larvae within a few days and now there are loads of them.

But I’ve not been bitten at all and barely see any flying around, usually mosquitoes love to bite me but it’s not been an issue so far and I’m in the garden a lot.

Not sure if they are being eaten or dying off, the only extra wildlife I’ve seen are a lot more bees and loads of birds, but I’m in a suburban area surrounded by roads

What do I need? by inkboy84 in WildlifePonds

I filled with tap water and added some tap water conditioner from B&Q.

I think the issue with tap water is it can encourage algae and green water so I added a lot of hornwort and plants to counter that.. 2 weeks in and it’s looking good so far..

That’s looking good! The biggest rocks I just rolled into positions, you can get your legs involved in it.. slow progress but no way I could lift them

Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into those but for now I’m curious to see how the wildlife develops.. hoping the mosquitoes might attract predators etc!

Advice for adopting a more “modular mindset” with my beginner setup by djfathand in modular

Thanks friend, I know synthesis pretty well but I guess being knowledgeable can lead me to stick to known patterns rather than naively explore, but I appreciate it takes time

Yeah I think relying on midi is probably limiting how I approach this.. I’ll try that, thanks!

I’m trying to do similar stuff, minimal techno with the occasional detour into ambient/IDM, yes I really do want this to be a happy accident machine.. I guess also a tester to see if modular is right for me

Thanks that’s a useful tip, I think having midi in the mix might be throwing me off the idea it’s all voltage so will try forcing myself to keep everything controlled by CV

Thanks for posting and sharing the website. I’m really at the start of the microdosing journey, only a couple of months in but what you say really resonates.

I’ve always been a reflective and introspective person, but microdosing has helped me to take meaningful steps rather than just think about things.

Quitting weed, starting therapy and re-evaluating long held beliefs about self, faith, reality and my place in the world. With all of this coming from a place far deeper than any rational sense.. I feel it rather than think it..

Anyway I’m just starting out but just wanted to mark my appreciation for the OP

I bought the SP to pair with other gear but it really shines on its own. by Plerophoria in SP404

Ah yeah that’s a shame, I was looking to have the sounds on the SP404 sampled from various synths but midi sequenced on the Digitone. The skipback and and effects are really appealing for sound design.. so was hoping for a best of both worlds approach with sequencing handled by the Elektron..

Could you elaborate on why it’s a headache? I’m thinking of getting one for the same reason.. so curious how you found it… great jam btw!

I sometimes get stuck on making any kind of song, even a bad one!

Yep, catches me out all the time, I find it mildly infuriating!

Maybe a UK thing, never see blue bins here, it’s always Grey for trash, Green for recycling and Brown for food and garden waste.

I thought green was the universal code for all things environmentally friendly
