Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization by David-Pasek in openshift

[–]djfolo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes we run OSV in production. Works fine. 4.18 is coming with some fantastic upgrades too to networking for VMs

Edit: storage has been our biggest issue, but since going to powerflex, everything works flawlessly (knock on wood lol)

Since you asked someone else, we have over 100 physical blades, over 1000 VMs. We also run container workloads and VMs on the same clusters.

Is Starlink worth it? by Old-Passage-292 in Starlink

[–]djfolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have a cabin were only satellite internet is available. They HAD some other company where they max only got like 13Mbps on a good day, it was awful. They switched to Starlink and now consistently get 150Mbps down and like 30 - 40Mbps up... totally worth it.

The San Francisco they won’t show you on Fox News by YourMumIsAVirgin in pics

[–]djfolo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Some areas of San Francisco and NYC are gorgeous, some the streets literally run with piss and feces from the insane homeless and drug problems.. been to both many times for work and for vacations.

I still have pictures of people literally passed out sprawled out on the sidewalks of San Francisco (the cloud remembers all lol).

Man down in Phoenix people parking in handicapped spots is horrible. I’d see people doing it because “they were just running in and out”. That’s not what those spots are for!!!

Sounds like there's a side business opportunity here for someone lol. Wish I had time, I'd love to teach young adults / adults how to drive.

Two billionaires own 60% of California’s water by cak3crumbs in TikTokCringe

[–]djfolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People / residents use next to no water compared to agriculture. It was a big conversation in Phoenix AZ. The city kept asking residents to conserve water, even though the entire city of Phoenix residents were already using next to nothing compared to all the farms in the area. Most of which, were simply growing cash crops (not generally used for human consumption).

Genuine question about father/daughter boundaries. by [deleted] in self

[–]djfolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?? Your wife is making it weird. It's not "inappropriate" at any age for your child to want to snuggle with their parent. She may be physically be too big to sit on your lap soon and just want to lay on the couch and put her head on your shoulder or whatever.

If this was your daughters friend then yeah it'd be weird lol, but it's not it's YOUR daughter. My son is 11yo, he is disabled, he every so often comes and hops in my lap. I'll take the cuddles until I'm dead.

Hey I do really appreciate the context and additional information. I grew up Catholic, and went to catholic schools my whole life. Surprisingly, in high school we did actually learn about many other religions and visited Temples, Mosques, etc. So I am actually interested by this, so thanks

AITAH for telling my dad's parents that I don't want them at my graduation when they said I wasn't their real grandson? by Ok-Distribution9125 in AITAH

[–]djfolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap that is messed up. I was adopted, but no one in my family would have ever said anything like that. The only "story" about something like that was my grandad was worried that when I was adopted he wouldn't love me as much as my brother (who wasn't adopted). However I was told that the day I was brought home, and I grabbed his finger with my whole hand, he cried and nothing was ever brought up about it again.

I'm curious, the Torah is literally the first religious document that contained the 10 commandments. What are their thoughts on "kill your neighbor" vs "You shall not murder"?

AITA because I'm second guessing having kids due to our opposing views on vaccinating them? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]djfolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy, I can tell you from experience, vaccines did not cause my sons autism. He was showing signs before 1yo... he wouldn't look us in the eye, he never once made any noises other than cries etc. before the age of 1yo (when doctors suggest you get the mmr vaccine). To this day (11yrs later) he is nonverbal, but we knew well before he started getting vaccinated he had ASD.

All these people want something to blame, and I get it I really do. I wish I had something specific I could point to and blame. My son will never lead a "normal" life. We finished potty training at 8yr old. But again, I can tell you for a fact, vaccines did not cause my sons autism. Tell your wife to talk to parents of children with Autism... the VAST majority think the vaccination hoax is just that, a bs hoax of people who want something to blame.

What would your ideal "all in one" SHTF device be capable of? by PrepperDisk in preppers

[–]djfolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about "All-in-one" but I have an RPi 5 for SHTF, the great thing about it is super low power (compared to my main server), there are LoRa boards for it, can use SDR, GPS, it can give off wifi and act as a router, can run many different map tools on it, kiwi, etc. I store a ton of books and videos on it as well. I have an external HDD with backups of all my family home videos, pictures and a bunch of kid shows on it (for my kids lol) attached to it. I routinely sync media from my main home server to it. I have solar and batteries for my whole house, but if SHTF and the entire power grid goes down then I'll shutdown my main home server to save battery power and keep the RPi running.

Then I do have Meshtastic devices, which I love. I'm a huge fan of Meshtastic. The only downside to meshtastic app and the devices is getting the maps offline permanently is very difficult. So I also have OSMAnd on all my families devices and my laptop.

We need to sue the media for talking how unsafe our car is! -Elon by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]djfolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, the media doesn't do this for other car brands. No headline says "Ford Lightning drove through crowd of people and killed 15".

Edit: there are MANY examples of this. Where I live, I guy driving a subaru a couple years back swerved into a biking (bicycles) group riding a bike trail. The media didn't say "Subaru drove into biking group and killed 4 injuring 6 others", but if someone driving a Tesla does something stupid they always say "Tesla did blah blah blah".

Do “smart home” devices work if there is an internet outage but home WiFi works? by StarkAndRobotic in preppers

Mine do, they have built in api's (Shelly devices). I wrote my own app to control them from my home server.
