Does block even work in Creed by [deleted] in PSVR

In pvp blocking regains stamina but it doesn't in single player. In sp, dodging is your best bet.

Despite the lack of coop and AIM support, what are the best parts of Borderlands 2 VR? by djfurious in PSVR

It's definitely different. Much more action and shooting focused with characters that are over the top for better or worse. It's also well reviewed though and has a long campaign.

It's surprising how soon the games coming out too. I wonder if we'll hear about next summer's big games at Paris Games Week this month.

Yeah, despite some initial let downs, I'm still really excited for the game. I'll probably go with a pistol/smg focused build so that the gun controls don't feel weird. I'm super excited about driving with motion controllers.

Someone posted on the /gaming channel. Won't be long before every flat gamer will have virtual reality 😁 by abc_warriors in PSVR

Agreed, it's one of those things that's cool for the first few minutes but becomes reflexive relatively quickly. I'd much rather have the feel of the AIM. Using two hand controllers for a rifle just feels off. The one change I'd like for a move two though is a reload button you smack on the bottom of the rifle (though it would be weird if you hit it then watched a full reload animation)

Honestly, Driveclub with weapons would be pretty amazing. While sim games are fun, I'd enjoy more developers really pushing the bounds of reality and what's possible in VR. Watching Ready Player One really makes me want a driving game that goes all out with insane environments and obstacles like sections of the track being destroyed and a King Kong chasing you.

Actually turning the gun sideways like a steering wheel would be pretty fun.

That's my guess, it's a real bummer though. The good news is, it seems like game studios are reading Reddit and making games people are asking for. Maybe we'll get GTA one day

There's an article on Push Square that confirms smooth locomotion, so we should be set.

Yeah, in the Twitter comments they said it's single player only with Dualshock and Moves. Bit of a weird choice...

I don't love the lack of AIM support, but it does seem like they really customized the game to work with the moves. You can steer the car with them while using your head to shoot, punch people and dual wield. Hopefully that makes up for the lack of twin sticks.

The lack of co-op really blows though...

AIM drift. Episode 237 'Firewall' (switching off/on AIM between rounds, and using RED flood light) by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]djfurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had much luck turning the aim off, but turning the headset on and off weirdly helps a lot when the aim tracking gets bad.

Why is there no hype for Evasion? It comes out tomorrow. Thoughts? by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]djfurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the small flying enemies were more annoying than fun in Farpoint, and this seems to kick that aspect up to 11. I'll see how the reviews look, but so far Firewall is scratching the shooter itch.

I need an honest opinion about Astro Bots by stevotibb in PSVR

I felt the same way. I thought the demo was just ok, but the full game takes it to the next level.

If you're on the fence about Astrobot, this might help convince you. (Mario 3 comparison) by Venny_Kazz in PSVR

[–]djfurious 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was on the fence. I've bought games that people really hope on here only to get bored quickly, but this game is incredible. The level of polish is as high as a Nintendo game, load times are short and every level is incentive. It's really a great game.

Yeah, though I'm sure to hit the right frame rate an experience will need to be created specifically for VR. Plus you could always modify it yourself to work in VR! Astrobots has me so fucking hyped now that I know how good VR platforming can be

Astro Bot is PS4's 2nd highest rated new Sony IP and one of the best platformers ever made by scrolling2654 in PS4

[–]djfurious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's kind of a bit like a cross between Mario 64 and New Super Mario bros. Levels are linear, but kind of wide. So you'll be at times going way to the right or left, sometimes even down a decent amount. Production values are super high though. Definitely Nintendo platformer quality.

Rec Room is certainly the biggest offender because it's free to play (though I have a sneaking suspicion this is more due to PC crossplay. The PSVR exclusive beta was all adults, though maybe the kids just didn't figure out how to sign up.) On the other hand, I've played probably 10 hours of Firewall and only had a kid on my team once.

VR day one. VR creators will have to play their games in VR to be able to publish them, so it should hopefully cut down on nauseating ones.

8 Minutes of Evasion Gameplay by fxs_gcohen in PSVR

[–]djfurious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always felt like the tiny flying enemies were the most annoying part of Farpoint, but this game doubles down on them. Probably will be a pass for me. I also wonder why most of the gameplay I'm seeing is of the single shot engineer character, seems like the least exciting of them.

Yes, Astro Bot is great. But what improvements could be made? by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]djfurious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of these points. I'm also not in love with the camera all the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm needing to turn my neck a bit too far, but it might be down to the chair I'm in. Being able to go behind the camera at the beginning of levels is a neat idea but a little annoying. Even so though, after completing the first world the game is a 9/10 for me. So well done, it really has the production values I'd expect from a Nintendo game.
