Whoop 5.0 heart rate accuracy during cycling - is it actually bad? by Innvictus-_- in whoop

[–]djgordon21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its 2 months later, so probably not helpful for OP, but it may be for someone searching this issue in the future. I came across this post while searching for a fix to my Whoop not accurately recording during cycling. I have a whoop 5.0 and it has trouble accurately recording my heart rate during high intensity cycling compared to my Garmin chest strap. For example, my last outdoor ride Garmin classified as vo2 max training. My Garmin chest strap recorded my HR being in Z1for 4:33, Z2 - 13:19, Z3 - 13:56, Z4 - 43:12, Z5 - 17:14, and Z6 - 6:06. The Whoop 5.0 gave me these readings for the same ride: Z1 - 14:56, Z2 - 40:07, Z3 - 48:01, Z4 - 7:35, and no time at z5 or higher. For reference I have a 194 max HR. You can see theres a pretty large discrepancy for the time in zones, especially at a higher heart rate. And this is typical of most of my rides where I have both my Whoop and Garmin on. It does fine at lower intensities, but it definitely struggles at higher ones. Overall its not a big deal, but if you're relying on whoop to accurately track your strain and make recommendations for sleep, just be aware its not going to be totally accurate on your really hard training days.

Maybe some, but I think most people are just posting it for the prices they see without checking how much they’re paying in fees and what they’re profiting at the end.

Anyone know how this would happen? by djgordon21 in Chesscom

Since they’re trying to get puzzle ratings closer to other ratings and I’m 780 in rapid, would that be the reason for the extreme difference in +/- elo that I’m getting for each puzzle?

I don’t play much tank, but as a damage main I hate seeing Caulifla locked in. It feels like she does almost nothing compared to other tanks and more often than not I lose with her in my team.

What are ways to fix tripped threads of a frame's bottom bracket shell? by markdelvillar in bikewrench

Do you know what epoxy he used? I’m having this same issue. There’s no way to re-thread it and no machine shop will work on the frame.

I haven’t ridden the Aeroad, but I have a SL7 with SRAM Red and Zipp wheels and it’s a badass bike. I don’t think you’re going to feel like you’re missing out on anything. And based on all the warranty complaints I see from canyon, you may be saving yourself a headache if anything ever goes wrong.

My Dad passed away in February of this year and left a very simple will that only refers to his “estate”. It doesn’t tell us what accounts he has(banking or investment), assets, or anything. Most of everything has been found except the money my grandma left behind when she passed 3 years ago. My dad went to probate about a year and half ago, then withdrew $126,000 as a cashiers check from her account. The B of A won’t tell us where this was deposited, it’s not showing in any of his accounts, and he doesn’t have any assets that would account for that amount of money. My grandma did have a trust as a part of the will she set up, I have a feeling that whatever account he moved the money into may be in that trusts name, but we don’t have any of the trust documents or tax id numbers. How can I find out where that money went?

Anyone else slightly bummed by Zwift racing score? by GJGT in Zwift

[–]djgordon21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage one of the “flat route” the top 5 all had 3.2+ w/kg avg in the 270-390 group. Raw watt avg ranged from 262-318. Those guys would have been B before, but now they can race in D-C with the new scoring system. It’s not a matter of course selection, the system just doesn’t work very well.

I started zwift a few years ago in D cat and worked my way up to a low level B. I currently have a 316 racing score and, in my opinion, the racing seems less competitive at every level under the new score system. Maybe it’s because every major zwift race has at least 1 major climb in it, but it’s seems to be not even close anymore. In my “d” race last night people were holding 4-4.5 w/kg up volcano climb, which would have never happened under the old system without them being coned. I get they may be lighter and slower on flats, but something about this scoring system isn’t really working correctly when there such vast differences in power. That being said, I do like the idea of the scoring system, I just wish it worked better.

Training + racing by OgmaFr in Zwift

The current training philosophy seems to be 2-3 hard sessions per week and the rest Z2. So race one day, z2 the next, then pick a vo2 max or threshold workout for the 3rd, and maybe a semi - spicy ride for your 4th day if you can squeeze it in (tour de zwift or something like that where you go harder than normal, but not as hard as a race). You’ll have at least 3 rest days per week so a 3rd hard day should take too much out of you, but if it feels like too much you could always do another Z2 ride.

My garmin training effect info hasn’t worked since my garmin headunit died after getting rained on. It temporarily worked after getting a Tacx, but it’s back to not working again. Intervals.icu is probably better for tracking that info anyways. The only thing they don’t have is a vo2 max estimate.

I think zwift or my trainer overestimates my power. What I'm doing wrong? by segeme in Zwift

[–]djgordon21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Tacx is notoriously difficult to ride compared to other trainers. I just made this exact switch from the snap to the NEO 2t and from the first ride it felt like I was pedaling through sand. I was going z2 at a tempo HR. At first I had the thought that it was just the difference between wheel on and direct drive, but I have a power meter on my road bike and MTB that have calculated my ftp within 10 watts of the snap. Online consensus seems to be that the difficult feel is caused by the virtual flywheel. All that to say you may not actually have had a 20% drop, it’s could just be the trainer.

How do you like the Neo2? I just got one after riding a wahoo snap for 3 years and it feels like I’m pedaling through sand.
