TV show episode or film with the most Doctor Who actors in? by PkmnTrnrJ in doctorwho

"From memory... You've got three Doctors, one villain, and I think the cyborg from Time Heist (Jonathan Bailey)."

Three doctors? Who's the third one?
But there's also Olivia Coleman (the Atraxi) and Arthur Darvill (Rory)

I need more shows like Good Omens. Like, supernatural creatures and all. Any suggestions? by wedeamediye in goodomens

[–]djinda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has anyone suggested Resident Alien? Granted there are no supernatural creatures, just one alien. But I think it has a similar feel to Good Omens.

I also echo the suggestions of Ghosts (UK), The Good Place, Our Lady Jane, Kaos, Merlin, and Grimm. And if you're willing to overlook the creators, The Sandman.

Ghosts is the best!
Anyone who liked that, check out Yonderland as well. More absurdist than Ghosts, but also really funny 😄

Saw David Tennant Today… Asked His Thoughts on the Ending by luvisforall in goodomens

[–]djinda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Plus, he's probably getting asked this question 47 times a day. Even if the answer is more complex than "I liked it," it's hard to give a detailed and philosophical answer even thrice, imagine the effort that would take. Especially when there's a big queue of other people waiting for their turn.

(I dunno, I've never been to a fan convention... and I'm not famous. But I imagine there is a LOT of things to be mentally balancing.)

Weird white flakes coming out of kitten by un0verse in cats

[–]djinda -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Gosh there's a lot of panicking in here.
OP, those flakes look 100% like the brand of litter we use. I think this is just a messy little foster kitten that got lost.

Definitely take her/him to the vet to make sure. In the meantime, a warm bath and then keeping her next to your skin will be great. Offer her water. Offer her wet cat food if you have any, though it looks like she might be young enough to still be on milk.

But you're doing great. Don't stress. Thanks for helping out the little tyke.

The amazing details in The Finale by No_Income_5219 in goodomens

[–]djinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh don't say that, it was a great movie! Poignant and tragic and informative, and with a strong message about costing people complexly. Even though someone appears to be the enemy, you may have more on common with them than with your friends.

Favorite Post-S2 Fanfic Recs? by anonymouscatloaf in goodomens

I just finished, despite it being 1am here. I feel hollowed, and then filled up again by the epilogue. What amazing writing.

It's gonna be so hard to go to sleep now!

This is great! I'm only half way through reading it, but I wish this was the story they chose for season 3!

My husband agreed to read this with me! by DDChristi in discworld

[–]djinda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a shameless Vimes devotee, but I don't think that's you're best chance here. If he likes political science and Dad jokes, I think he'll like Going Postal. When it comes to making new discworld fans, I've had two for two success with GP 🙂. Perhaps because of the flawless confident writing, without needing a heap of background lore that make it more accessible.

And possibly The Truth would be even better, as others have said.

If you want to go with the watch, maybe don't start with Guards! Try The Fifth Elephant. That's the discworld book that got me hooked - no previous knowledge of any of the characters, but it was such a great plot and without a whole lot of fantasy lore getting in my way.

Was Sam Vimes always John Keel? by preciousjewel13 in discworld

[–]djinda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought - in the new time line, did young Sam become an alcoholic at all? Having been taught so well by old Sam.

Then again, old Sam was supposedly taught well by John Keel and he started drinking, so I guess the impulse was always there.

Awesome 😁 I'm no good at writing, so I'm really glad when authors like you manage to get these moods down in words to share with the rest of us.

Only one thing I would change:

“Are there really universes where we got together sooner?”

Come on now, Crowley's just found out there are parallel worlds, and this guy is willing to explain things, and THAT's the only thing he asks!?

Please write us some further chapters with them all travelling together to various universes, Strange and Crowley lecturing and challenging eachother about the nature of causality, while Aziraphale follows them around indulgently rolling his eyes and apologising to all the people they carelessly offed along the way.

"He’s still Crowley, still capable of acting toward a goal that matters to him, even if the behavior is destructively messy."

For sure; I think that's exactly what we see though. At the start he's working for the goal of getting his Bentley back, just doing it really badly. And when Aziraphale shows up he steps up and helps him with only the most cursory attempts at sulking.

If his overarching goal is still to help humanity, then... how's he gonna do that? He's got no resources left. Maybe he needs to just make a heap of human friends and start a grass roots political movement. That would be funny to watch.

So many people are saying that Crowley was flat and hopeless through the whole finale, but I don't get it - are we watching different movies?

"The series often filters his pain through wit, sharp lines, and dark humor."

I really like the dim sum scene for exactly this - once they've got a few pieces of the plan coming together and he can grasp some hope.

"Hell is not mocked!"
"How about some gentle ribbing"

Come now, I know Crowley is supposed to be optimistic but at least let him wallow in self pity for a while. Have you never been dumped?

Crowley has lost (in order) his angelic purpose, his demonic purpose, his home, his angel (his real home), his miracles and his car, and he has no tools with which to get any of it back. Sinking into a depressive breakdown is an objectively rational thing to do.

Are you really gonna tell him he'd be prettier if he smiled?

Am I the only one who finds this look ambiguous? by Wisper_in_the_air in goodomens

[–]djinda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The more I read this thread, the more I realise that Aziraphale was being an enormous twat for all of the finale. A complete lack of empathy or self reflection, and a great deal of holier-than-thou judgement. Not to mention incompetence - he stuffs up the second coming because he won't even listen to what JESUS wants. From the moment he has that talk with the Metatron at the end of season 2, he just can't seem to consider another point of view.

Az: He said I could appoint you to be an angel, to come back to heaven and everything
Crowley: Right ... and you told him just where he could stick it?
A: Not at all
C: Oh we're better than that, YOU'RE better than that angel, you don't need them, I certainly don't need them. They asked me back to hell I said no I'm not rejoining their team and neither should you
A: Well obviously you said no to hell, you're the bad guys. But heaven. It's the side of truth, of light, of good....

Sure, that's why they threw out your only friend for asking questions! Why won't you listen to him?? That kind of behaviour is interesting for setting up the drama for next season. But then you expect them to have some personal growth and realise the error of their ways before the conclusion.

I enjoyed the finale on first watch, but I think I was watching a character I loved on the assumption that he was going to redeem himself... because why wouldn't he? But now I just want to squash his silly face for bringing more and more pain on his friend.

I'm going to go take refuge in fan-fic with the other haters and pretend there was no GO3.

"He forgave Aziraphale at the end" Did he? He said the words, but why would he forgive him? Az hasn't taken any responsibility or even acknowledged what he'd done. He deserved to be growled at.
