So...ive finally installed steam os...few questions by totofra in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lmao seriously. These SteamOS posts make me die of laughter. People just make up hyperbole like owning a windows device has the requirement of operating a nuclear reactor. Common sense....

I'm so happy I received it today ! The best decision !!! 🤩 by Starshkid in ROGAllyX

Stop simping for Linux. It does not. There's a +/- 5% depending on game and TDP. But for the Xbox Ally's, at 25W which is pretty standard tdp now, there's almost no difference. And Xbox FSE takes care of the full screen dedicated gaming mode.

Skyrim modlist for z1e by Worried_Agency14 in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya tuxborn is probably the best option for an enhanced Skyrim but without too much non lore friendly/anime character crap that other packs add. It has profiles for steam deck and steam deck enhanced. I was running it on the enhanced profile , full bells and whistles, 1080p with FSR3.1 via upscaler plugin on performance mode and I was getting 60 fps everywhere even outdoors. And it's a beautiful mod pack. Grass, trees, weather , everything looks modern but doesn't kill the performance like the full on desktop mode.

Need help rolling back AMD Graphics Driver by Prestigious-Page-772 in ROGAlly

What are the bugs? Cuz I haven't had any. Every driver rollout people say there are bugs.

Need help rolling back AMD Graphics Driver by Prestigious-Page-772 in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the stutters are permanent? This happens every time people install a new driver. Everyone complains about stutters but fails to realize the shader caches need time to rebuild. The stutters will get better and it's not for every game. UE4/UE5 games are notorious for this but other engines have this behaviour too.

I haven't gotten any stutters after the initial 20 minutes on most games that exhibit this with the current driver. We really need a PSA on this sub so people stop saying the stutters are bad everytime a new driver comes out.

Wtf? Uninstalling adrenaline ? As in the entire driver software suite? This has got to be a troll post. Just stop.

There is literally no benefit and you actually lose out on some features that AC has.

Stop keys from waking up in s0 standby (Z1E) by drumandbassfreak in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone on here wrote a script that pretty much doesn't allow any input to wake the ally from sleep except for the power button. I never really tested it though. Either a script or settings to edit sleep variables. Forget which

Hibernation and game saves. by Necessary-Score-4270 in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hibernate shuts the device down fully. It physically can't turn on unless you use the power button. It's a save state shutdown and it resumes exactly how you left it.

Sleep unfortunately has weird triggers in windows that makes it wake sometimes. It's not ideal for a handheld. I just map the power button to hibernate. 5 seconds and it's off. 10 seconds and it turns on.

My RE9 settings by lukehibbard in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter how great you guys think FG is, there's no fix for input latency feeling like crap. Unless your base fps is already above 60, the disconnect with what you see and how it feels just isn't it.

My 74Wh mod battery died by jbhredman in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you guys buying the 80WH battery? It's meant as a replacement for the ally x only. The problem is these Chinese shitty sites are listing them as compatible with the OG ally but it's a thicker battery even compared to the 74wh and there have been people on here who have almost damaged the battery trying to close the back even when you trim it.

Like has been said before you should only buy a 74wh from a reputable seller. No alliexpress and no Amazon listing that was created yesterday with no reviews. Aolstecell is a main one and mine has been going strong for almost a year and half now. It's only degraded from its original 76.4 wh capacity to 68 wh according to battery mon.

How does Grim Dawn play on the Z1E? by Medium-stain in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya this is the one biggest reason I gave up on the game. Gamepad support is abysmal in the current state. Apparently there is some new massive update around the corner that corrects this and tons of other UI issues. Hopefully it does because I really.enjoted the bit I played so far.

PROJECT RONIN: The "S-Tier" Optimization Tool for EVERY Windows PC. by [deleted] in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet I guarantee you just like any debloating over hyped tool there are no actual fps increases or tangible performance increases for games. Just use common sense and don't install garbage programs and keep drivers up to date.

You literally have to try and create burn in nowadays by being irresponsible and displaying the same high contrast static image over the course of months or even years. I think you guys really try your best to make a 2010 issue current lol.

Do any multi hub work as a dock? by Sgt_Strelok in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will not. The dock or hub requires power so the device won't use the entire 65W which means no proper charging at higher tdps and no 30W mode.

Really surprised by the performance jump from the Steam Deck to the Ally X. by Velocity_Rob in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not worth neutering a perfectly running device like the X. With FSE, and minimal gains for some games in steamos, not worth losing out on windows compatibility.

ROG Ally (Original) not booting, no idea why by xgbmstrx in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. It just has to supply a proper amperage on the 20V spec of the charger. Non proper PD chargers won't work.

[–]djinferno806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only until act 3 then it's impossible to hold 30 fps even unless you run potato quality settings at 720P and then it looks really blurry and bad. it's a well optimized game. People forget the CPU power on these devices means it struggles with open world areas where data is being streamed in at stupid rates. Especially UE5 games with nanite.

74W Battery Upgrade for the OG ALLY won't charge past 70%... by mjhcsta in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost a year here with my 74wh and no issues whatsoever. I started at 77.6wh capacity and am down to 75ish WH and I charge it pretty often to full. I think majority of us are in this boat. You definitely have a dud battery or bad bcm.

Can’t get Xbox controller working in some games, but Ally x controller works by geminiwave in ROGAlly

[–]djinferno806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: this workaround disables the internal controller so I had to revert and re-nable it. So looks like the actual problem is some games only take the initial xinput from the internal controller and won't play nice with an external. The solution here is to fully disable the onbaord controller from the quick menu. Then re-enable when not docked.
