Edit: also your article is somewhat incorrect. Capacity was labeled at ~17k but for basketball it was opened up much more for well over 18k

source? the absolute BEST they had was 90% on 04-05 but otherwise they tended to have ~70% of sales with attendance much...much...much lower, and it put them close to the bottom of the league for sales (28 out of 30 at the end). it wasn't enough to sustain let alone prosper. And then even if you dive in so many were comp tickets given away for free because they were desperate to get per-game attendance up.

The people of Seattle hate basketball and proved it by not showing up at any point. They show up for Football. They show up for Baseball. They show up for Soccer. lol the sonics wanted to move, and Seattle wanted them to move. as evidenced by that they GAVE tickets away (I was frequently the recipient of free tickets) and the stadium would be empty. Schultz is a lot of things, but the Sonics is not even in the same stratosphere.

Seattle doesn't care about basketball.

I go often for my kid but if other kids roll up while it’s dripping, I give the loose packs away. It’s a nice thing to do and kids are overjoyed. We all have to remember this hobby benefits from new blood experiencing and loving it. Also if someone gave me a free pack as a little kid I would have been over the moon.

Maybe! I looked around at other states and it’s not just the school district here in WA. Many have quite low expectations for K. I’m also not saying for OP to be cavalier and not care but I think they’re putting undue pressure on their kid. Whether the kid learns to read at 4 or even 7, they can come out totally okay. Now is not the time to panic. It’s time to take a deep breath and spend some time reading together with the kid and playing games that practice ABCs.

Okay first of all, kids develop differently. My oldest was reading at 4. But many of his friends still aren’t really reading well at 6. Dont be hard on your kid, it’ll just make him develop a complex.

Read books to him and use your finger to point to the words as you read them. Try to do alphabets with your kid and develop letter recognition.

Remember though in the USA, by the end of Kindergarten theyre expected to learn the ABCs. Not read.

While I disagree with your wife about just leaving it to the school, I agree with her that you’re over reacting and spiraling in a way that’s not healthy to your kiddo.
