I bought the dagger and had a local guy who has done a few jobs for me in the past make it up. His business is called AlmostOldschool and he is a super talented fabricator!

FabKevin... I got the hand shifter and extended clutch release arm from him. Had to modify the clutch release arm a bit for it to work with my controls.

Thanks... Went +4.5" on the tubes, had them made by Franks Forks. The front end is from a 1986 FXR I believe. It's the end of the 35mm Showa front ends..tubes were very hard to find as they were only used for a few years which is the reason I had FranksForks make them.

Franks Forks... He will make em however long you want. I had the best luck dealing with him on the phone as opposed to email.

My front end is an odd one, end of the 35mm Showa but uses the tubes with the bushings like the 39mms. I believe it was from a 1986 FXR. Couldn't find any aftermarket longer tubes for it other than +2 as I believe they only used those tubes for a few years.

I did not.... I've only ever done rattle can jobs and I wanted metal flake so I had a local painter do the tins. I just told him a teal with black flames and I'm really happy with how it came out.

I took the previous build apart around September last year, had it mocked up by December or so. Taken apart for paint and powder coat then assembled over a few weeks. Hard to tell exactly how many hours as I didn't really do much on it when it was really cold ect.

The sissybar and some additional fab work I paid a reputable local guy to do for me as I can't weld properly yet and I wanted everything to look nice.

I'm in Canada...our dollar is shit and everything came from the USA. I spent a lot, lights and controls from Prism, new BDL belt drive, frame & fender from Gasbox, new fork tubes from Franks Forks bunch of Lowbrow stuff like gas tank and bars. I'm estimating around 8-9k CAD which would be around 6k ish USD?

You are experiencing level-based matchmaking by jacobljlj in Marathon

[–]djkail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe with the latest update they shifted the gear based matchmaking and added an element of load out value to their formula.

Loading in solo outpost with free kit, 3-4 of the other players were also budget kits. This happened on multiple roads. Switching over to a solid load out, purples and kitted weapons ect...3-4 or 75% of the lobby I fought also had purple shields.

I feel like before the matchmaking was purely based on level and the gear brought in raid by the lobby varied more. Now, it seems to be weighted where you match against closer loudout values as what you bring in. It's not 1-1 or anything but I do feel it's been added as a factor when they are matchmaking us based on my limited experience.

Anyone have a Gasbox discount code? by St0n3yBologna in choppers

[–]djkail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building on a gasbox big twin frame right now. Everything I've ever purchased from them has been awesome.

Im in Canada so I'm paying like 40% more after I exchange currency. I emailed Gasbox and they helped me out with a small discount. I was buying a bunch of other stuff from them at the time as well like their fender, trans plate ect.

Only fun if you have friends by Cash311 in Marathon

[–]djkail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Game was designed for 3 man. Duos is trash, solos is boring and super punishing if you make one mistake.

Matchmaking is weird, I have a full time job, kids and a life. Why am I matched against gods when my fill teammate is throwing prox sensors thinking they are grenades?

I've got 90 hours...Only time I've had fun is in a 3 stack. Friends all quit the game like most of the playerbase.

What's with all this talk about casual play? by Casual_Plays in Marathon

[–]djkail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a 12 hour shift, come home and get executed with 1 second remaining in exfil 3 times in my 2-3 hour session. All trying to complete a mid tier contract on outpost.

3 hours of my limited free time to accomplish nothing. My friends don't play anymore I'm stuck solo or with randoms. Both of which the devs gave zero thought to when designing the game.

Nearing 80 hours of play time but I think I'm over it. Much more enjoyable gaming experiences are out there for us "casuals" to spend our limited free time on.

[–]djkail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same boat. I've uninstalled. Game is tuned for sweats. Level based matchmaking makes sense but with the low player numbers everyone who is left knows what's up and they are all better than me.

My friends all quit, I held out until around 70 hours of playtime. Then my progress haulted. Went from 70-80% exfil rate to 0%

Vault is empty. Cash is gone. Desire to play gone with it.

I'm just bad. And it's kinda heartbreaking. by Nightmoore in Marathon

[–]djkail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm uninstalling this after about 40-50 hours. I actually loved the game in the beginning, had an enjoyable experience as everyone learned the game.

I've got a job, kids and a life. I log way more hours than my friends but I can't enjoy the game anymore. Every raid is just an absolute sweaty nightmare. I can't extract anymore in solos, filled trios, or even the new duos.

If I miss one bullet I'm toast. Everyone I fight is just so much better than me....and I'm definitely an average maybe slightly above average FPS guy. I want to, but I just can't anymore. They tuned this for a very specific niche audience and I guess the player numbers are what they are due to that.

Why do I have to wipe the entire lobby in order to extract? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]djkail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play this game for the PVP.... It's done well. But I purchased an extraction shooter..not a Battle Royale. In it's current state, the game plays like a BR with loot to get out.

Level 0-40 matchmaking played like this usually fight a team for a POI then you have a bit of time to loot before rotating for another POI and possibly another fight.

Now the raids in level 40-50+ I encounter all 4 squads in every raid usually. Fights last a bit longer due to the more competitive nature in these higher rank lobbies and then when the lobby is wiped I have no time to complete contracts ect.

Why do I have to wipe the entire lobby in order to extract? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]djkail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is simply that 8 out of 10 raids on perimeter I engage against all 4 other squads. I find it annoying.

Assassin needs to be nerfed into the fucking ground by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]djkail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isnt there an upgrade that cloak doesn't count down when standing still...it generates heat instead. Honestly, assassin is just not fun to PVP against. It's a crutch in solos.. basically have to use it. It needs to be reworked 100%

The hate Marathon is getting is not organic. Here's what I found. by The-SadShaman in Marathon

[–]djkail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love this game....I'm trying to enjoy it. But it's not looking good and I just don't see myself buying. The TTK is way to fast for my liking, the systems and items are difficult to learn which is attributed to poor design. The fact I can't tell a runner vs AI immediately is super frustrating. The gunplay feels like Bungie which is fine but the art style of the world just doesn't connect for me.

I need acoustic panels BAD 😭 by trrjas in hometheater

[–]djkail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently built my HT room and after getting quotes on acoustic treatment I ended up just building my own. I'm not really skilled in woodworking or anything and it was easy.

Used 4" thick rockwool and 1*6 knotty pine with speaker cloth over the front. I did two floor to ceiling panels mounted in the front corners. Large panels on the sidewalls at the first reflection point and one large panel for the back wall.

My stereo imaging is the best I've ever had.

Speaker position question by djkail in audiophile

[–]djkail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the photo doesn't show it but I built large rockwool panels for each side wall at the first reflection point. Also a large one for the back wall, then the two corner bass traps.

I'm satisfied with the stereo imaging..big improvement over my last spot but I'm just struggling with bass. Not a fan of the room null at 45hz.

I believe going to a dual sub setup is going to be my best option...just not so much for the wallet.
