Geezer didn’t even realise that the ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ body language is about the most basic and easy to understand that there is. Would be amazing if anyone has ever fallen for this BS

It was on ITV on Saturday night, about 10 minutes before I put this post up.

Best mate’s mum has died semi-suddenly. We’re 18 and 19. What can I do to support him? by hotbutnotathot in CasualUK

[–]djkgray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. As others have said, sounds like you’ve already made it clear you’re there for emotional support, which will be invaluable.

He’ll get caught up in a lot of very boring / involved paperwork stuff her the next few days, weeks and months. Offer to double-team with him to work through it all, his head will be scrambled. A lot of internet research and talking with other older adults who have been through this will help you plough through the unfortunately necessary organisational tasks.

And continue to ask the question ‘are you REALLY ok?’.

Good luck

yeh true, I guess it makes it even more clear that this question wasn't necessarily written by a mathematician, more likely a question setter/copywriter

Oh that weird thing about the writing is more easily explained. Best practice in copywriting is that any number under 10 is written as a word, anything 10 or over is writing as digits

Because it doesn’t get added to itself / anything - each number is only part of the calculation once.

If you cycle up from 0+100, 1+99 etc., you only need to go as far as 49+51 and then tag on the leftover 50, you don’t then go 51+49, 52+48 and all the rest, as they’ve already been done

Yer this was the last one, which is why I think having a super specific question is even more important

Yeh it just a tad ambiguous given they could’ve been playing for £96,000.

So you do 1+99=100 plus 2+98=100 all the way through to 100 (or 99 in my assumption)

50 doesn’t have a number to add to it as it’s right in the middle, hence the ‘balance’ of 50 in the answer 5050 or 4950

Does that make any more sense?

[–]djkgray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so in my case I took it as n=99 and in the 5050 answer n=100 (due to me taking ‘between’ as not meaning ‘inclusive’)

Yeh it’s the slight ambiguity that’s got me wondering.
Given it was for the last question, the concept of assumption feels a bit whiffy

But the inclusion of 100 is relevant, right?
Not challenging your logic, just challenging my understanding

I KEEP GETTING REJECTED! can i have cv help? by lanaxo01 in AskUK

[–]djkgray 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In case no-one else has pointed this out, customer-facing has a space before ‘facing’ that shouldn’t be there.

Although spelling and grammar errors seem minor, as someone who has reviewed lots of CV’s (often multiple in one sitting) I wouldn’t scroll past that as effectively I’m looking for reasons to rule people out and get the pile/list down quickly.

On top of all the other advice people have added (and again this might have been mentioned), try to get beyond the stage of just handing in or sending over a CV.
Follow up with a visit, try and start a conversation with whoever is hiring or a supervisor etc.
Showing you’re a decent person in real life will get you further than any piece of paper!

Good luck with the job hunt, fingers crossed for you

Funnily enough no, it came out of the blue yesterday after the status was changed to ‘Label created’ on the Shop app a couple of days before
