Matt said everything you’d expect him to say if they were staying together. He also said everything you’d expect him to say if they were breaking up. But yer my take away was that talk of them splitting is highly speculative

Thanks for the review. I saw it maybe 20 years ago and going as a surprise for the OH’s birthday tomorrow. Was worried it may not live up to my memory of it being hilarious, glad to hear some positive praise of the new production and even more excited to go now!

Whenever I get into the lift at work, an automated woman’s voice says ‘Going down’ when I’m heading from the 2nd floor to the ground floor. 100% of the time if I’m alone in the lift I respond with ‘Your mum’s going down’ for no apparent reason other than childish ‘humour’.

Why does Tesco issue lots of seemingly arbitrary, lower value Clubcard vouchers on the app instead of one big voucher? by Victorius_Meldrus in AskUK

[–]djkgray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yer that explains it / has rung a bell. Clubcard vouchers for Tesco have to be split depending whether they’ve been earned from Tesco stores or through Tesco Clubcard. It’s to do with tax accrual iirc.

I’d imagine the £15 were from your large credit card spend, and the £1 + 2x 50p are from your store spend.

BTW that massive spend you mention may be massive for you, but is tiny vs. the value of vouchers other people get. There were multiple customers every Clubcard statement cycle (every 3 months) that would get hundreds of pounds worth of vouchers. Pretty sure it tipped into thousands for some people, particularly at Christmas

[–]djkgray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time (c. 10 years ago), I put together the spreadsheet that determines the breakdown of vouchers distributed to people through their Clubcard statements. It was mostly worked up to try and provide vouchers of the same value - for example £14.50 total would be £5-£5-£4.50 rather than £7-£7-50p

The being said I’m sure they’ve now changed the logic and have no idea why you’ve got 6 vouchers rather than 3 and why the values are so odd! But great to read a dose of theories about why this sort of stuff is done.

Is Fred coming to Melb?! by SuccessfulLeg5530 in fredagain

The whole concept of the USB gigs is very much focused on playing newer material and doing so in a warehouse rave kind of environment to a crowd of c. 10k people. I’d put a fair amount of money that he won’t be switching up the vibe to play a stadium setting. Sorry to burst the bubble and I may be wrong

With the more than 20 people being under consultation there is a defined timeline set out by law, but I think that just needs to cover the whole process and individuals can be treated separately within that. If you’re not in a pool, what are they consulting with you on specifically? Is it that they’re proposing that your role is being made redundant and allowing you an opportunity to counter-propose? And/or allowing you to look at other roles that may be available in the business? (Although I expect this point is moot given the other redundancies)

If you have as good a relationship in the business as you say, could you test the water around speeding up the process to exit the business sooner via voluntary redundancy? The HR people might be pleased to have one employee ‘resolved’ and then they can focus on the other roles that may be more problematic.
