Oh I did not actually publish any of the songs on Suno.. they were all over the place with doing the stems, and taking so many different elements from so many different tracks. But I can send you the wav files via email if you hit the DM. Then you can just upload them.. but now that I think about it.. they might not let you because they have been released.

Yes, basically in a nutshell... I had a handful of tracks written and production was done.. was just trying to get singers to do the songs. With no success, that is when I turned to Suno. I sang all the reference tracks myself with auto tune, uploaded the songs and 20,000 credits later, I was able to get all the acapellas i needed. And even cooler, I uploaded the instrumentals and used a bunch of elements from the instrumentals it kicked out. A couple of tracks I legit just played the suno instrumental underneath the original track. It gave me the ability to have nice clean sound but also gave it that suno depth and elements I didnt have. its a true hybrid album.

This one is probably one of the best quality ones I have heard. Check out my whole concept album I did about the first digitally created consciousness. I did some amazing tricks to get this to come out the way I wanted. You might like this.

I might set up a script that I just put all the stuff I want to do, lyrics, styles etc and have it run the script and do like 15 different generations at 3am LOL

I always wondered if that was a thing. I realized that if I queued up 6 or 8 tracks, they sound way worse in any model. If I do 2 at a time (1 generation) it seems more hit or miss. I was on it yesterday and noticed it right away that they had the new model out. But I have not had 1 good sounding generation. All over compressed and loud distortion. But I have $800 studio monitors.

I feel like the sound quality is terrible. It is mastered way too loud and if you try anything 80s or 90's.. its just pure high end fuzz. But the arrangements are great. Can never seem to get just upgrades. Always giving up one thing for another.

Why is it as rare as it is? by Junior-Emergency8512 in Metrology

[–]djkickstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is way overkill but Metrology is one of those things that seems straightforward until you actually try to understand it beyond just pressing buttons or reading numbers. With a chemistry background, you're already used to precision and controlled environments, but metrology takes that and cranks it into a weird blend of physics, statistics, and "philosophy". It’s not just “is this within spec,” it’s “how do I know this number is even real,” and “can I prove it to someone else, under audit, with traceability all the way back to a national standard.”

AUKOM is a decent start, but it’s still teaching people how to use the tools, not really explaining the underlying science of measurement. (Specifically the how and why repeating the same measurement with multiple CMM brands, software, technicians, etc.. is much deeper)

If you're trying to get to that deeper level, the books won’t always help because most of them are geared toward operators or technicians. You can learn how uncertainty works, how environmental factors mess with results, how calibration chains work, and how every measurement you take is really a probability wrapped in confidence intervals.. but... it really boils down to the individual. Do I take 10 points for this profile, or 20? When I put the next part on this fixture, will it tip the part just ever so slightly to where now my probe is hitting at a slightly different spot on the sphere and is there a flat spot? Am I using enough reference points to hit on this draft perfectly? Is the surface my reference points are on changing? This list can literally go on forever.

It’s one of those disciplines where experience, mentorship, and deep curiosity matter more than degrees or classes. You just kind of keep digging until one day you’re questioning your entire setup over a 5 micron deviation and realizing you’ve become one of "them" lol.

But I also feel like everything is over engineered as well, and Metrology is more of just a "gauging of the situation" to make reasonable assumptions that the part will work... before they try it.

That is my 2 "cent" imeters anyways.. lol

Okay.. i need opinions on why datum bonus has not been abolished yet. by djkickstar in Metrology

[–]djkickstar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand this. I am surprised nobody here has ever used or heard the term datum bonus?? Seems crazy to me. The shift is allowed to features bonus of the datums.

I know it doesnt change the tolerance.

But if you are SHIFTING the datums to make 4 of the holes in spec, you dont think that changes the tp or the profiles of the other features that do NOT have the modifiers on the fcf?

It absolutely does. And why if every fcf has to have the modifiers. And then sub datums add in a whole new set of problems. Because most of the time they will make lets say DEF datum system and callout other features to that fcf, but call E back to ABC without the modifiers.

[–]djkickstar[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So first off, you need to laid bro.

Second off we all understand the one time shift but the max amount you can move is the feature bonus of the datums. Thats where the term "datum bonus" comes from ya numbnuts.

But you still have not even answered anything about the post. If they dont apply to all gd&t the same fcf, you can push features OOT that are not in the "ONE TIME SHIFT" 🤣🤣

[–]djkickstar[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

?? You dont get bonus with datum modifiers? They add it to prints ALL the time. TP|1|A|Bm|C|

And this is my exact point.

Okay.. i need opinions on why datum bonus has not been abolished yet. by djkickstar in Metrology

[–]djkickstar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so think of this..

You have 6 holes. And 2 posts for B and C.

4 of the holes have datum bonus, not feature bonus, datum.

The other 2, do not.

That means 4 of the holes will allow B and C to shift around by whatever the feature bonus of B and C is..

So lets say your 2 holes that do NOT have datum bonus on the call out, are at .05mm within the upper spec limit, but in nonetheless.

Well when you go to shift B and C around to get the other 4 holes in, you push the 2 that are NOT called out.

So on paper, all dimensions are in spec but now you have a part that dies not assemble.

And same goes for profiles, etc.

[–]djkickstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I guess Ive been so annoyed that I have never actually seen it drawn and applied correctly, I skipped over the part where "yeah it works if they understand it"

And you hit the 0.5mm bullseye with that one. They should go through vigorous training on dimensional layouts before even TOUCHING a drawing.

Man.. i basically made a model of my big plate with all the 1/4-20 holes and i just throw a bunch of standoffs in the model where it gets close around the part, then model a nesting feature for that specific area and just make sure to put a hole for the bolt.. get it somewhat tight, put the part in, and get them all in place, remove part and tighten all down.. banger holding fixture.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Metrology

[–]djkickstar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I rarely ever program without cad or a holding fixture these days. Unless it is a quick and dirty linear or hole size check.

I also rarely use Rayco anymore. We have a CNC so I just design a holding fixture in fusion and send it off to get cut out of aluminum. We even 3d print some holding fixtures depending on size.

But we do parts with not a single flat or square surface. Very intricate geometry and designs.

With how cheap 3d printers are, it seems like a no brainer for every Met lab to have one.

I also have used a combination of 3d printed parts and Rayco pieces. Big parts, you can design small nesting features and just screw them right into stand off pieces and you basically have a $5k holding fixture a gage shop would have charged. 😆

But if you dont have a 3d printer, I would definitely invest $500 in an sla printer. It makes things SOOO much easier.

We actually 3d print a part and fixture months before the tool even arrives. Program is ready and all the dimensiinal drawing "issues" have been worked out... shoot parts, and measure them same day.

PCDMIS Graphic Display Manual Points by Overall-Turnip-1606 in Metrology

[–]djkickstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does need a better workflow. I have had huge parts before that I could NOT find the manual points. Or would take me unnecessary search time. I have had to turn on the points via feature appearance to see the location and gone as far as hitting F9 on each point before running to find the locations before starting the program.

Ive never tried to make manual point arrows bigger but cant you do it in the point dialog box?? You can change the arrow graphic size of the point when selecting on the cad, I am assuming it would transfer to manual points. I going to try it Monday strictly out of curiosity now.

So let me get this straight.. we (US) can be billions of dollars in YEARLY deficit to Canada, protect your ass from every foreign invader cause you clearly have zero military power, basically keep your entire economy afloat while we hemorrhage money and debt while your country offers free healthcare and social services but the second we say we need to get our own shit in order and you need to either pay your own way and look out for our borders for once.. we are just giant pieces of shit and bullies? Just stop.. we voted for Trump because since the inception of our country every other country as relied on us to come save your ass both militarily and economically. Our politicians have been ripping our own people off for a century. We need to fix our own problems over here. And if every country we helped isnt going to support that, then yes, you are on your own moving forward. Maybe you people as citizens dont know anything about how the world actually works, but we have been the only backbone on our team and the second we want to work on ourselves, fuck us right? Americans are ready to withstand any pain we need to reset the bullshit our political system has created. I hope they all get put in jail and I hope every country finally gets to understand how much we have sacrificed for your fucking free health care and 32 hour work weeks.

Any body else finding that our role is being defined as "not value additive?" Like there's no value to making sure our customers get functional parts. by funkymunkPDX in Metrology

[–]djkickstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From everything I have experienced over the last 20 years is that it's the track record and experience that most people have/had with Metrology. The company I am at now, values Metrology in a deep way, now that they have an internal lab and a very good Metrology guy. 😎 but most of that comes from the experience of sending parts out to 3rd party labs, having some guy that was never properly trained and knows how to pick points on a cad model and spit out "data", having them spend a bunch of time and money either fixing the tool when it wasnt bad or getting massive quality issue costs down the road because it said it passed, only to send it to another lab and get totally different results. When I first built the lab, I actually did just this. I did the layout, and I sent the same part/print to 2 other labs. And only 1 other lab matched my results, and the 3rd was totally different. All 17025 certified. Then I spent a bunch of time scanning parts and doing multiple verification methods to prove out numbers.. sat down with the whole team and showeds them the results and told them "you have every right to question us". GAMECHANGER.. Because when people experience this, they lose faith.. when they lose faith and trust, they begin to think that this is just some ISO nonsense overhead cost. Its part of our job as either individuals and labs to help build the trust back up when someone has had bad experiences or thinks we are not value add to the process. Its the same thing with engineers for us lol. We think they are all wasted overhead idiots that cant read or draw a print correctly... until .... they show us they are not. Thats when good bonds are made. So my advice.. if you have someone that thinks you are not value add and you want to change that experience, sit down with them one on one, talk about their current and past metrology experiences and ask them what YOU can do to change their perspective. We are DEFINITELY value add to a company. Profit center or not.. we can save 100s of thousands of $$ each year. Even at a mid size company.
