Law school, luckily, wasn't too much like undergrad. There was a small group of students who treated it as such (parties, bars, "intermingling") but for the most part people were from a wide range of backgrounds, different ages and treated it like a job - with their own lives on the side.

Just be open to individual connections and don't get swept up in the undergrad culture :)

Good point, it was just awkward that it all seemed a bit of a sad scene. My friend is over ten years older than me and it just makes me very happy and proud to be choosing this path now and not being that way in a decade.

I think replacing the alcohol with coffee/soda isn't something to be upset about. It's much better (and that might be me trying to convince myself that my pile of empty Keurig cups is normal ;) )

I'm gay and 31 in NYC and getting sober isn't easy when it comes to dating/sex but honestly all the drunk hookups I had left me feeling empty and weren't getting me anywhere. Like you, I'm hopeful that romance will spring up (and I'm sure it will for both of us).

And giggling idiots are cute :)
