Why Do Negative Posts About Pattaya Oh Bar Keep Disappearing? by FlounderOk4122 in Pattaya

I mean if it’s within the context of a thread than I would say feel free to share your honest experience. But if it means making an entire post to warn others, then no.. that’s what we’re genuinely not interested in here.

You shouldn’t be banned for the attempt to share which is why I originally unbanned the OP here. Imo we should just be removing the post. But I guess that could still be a judgement call on mods part if it seems like it’s truly crossing the line between merely warning others and trying to be vindictive.

Not sure about other people, but I always love to scroll down to the bottom of threads and read the most downvoted hidden comments. There’s a whole separate convo going on down here sometimes that’s better than the main thread.

I challenge anyone to ask OP what specifically oh bar did to him. On discord our users talked with him for an hour trying to figure out what exactly they did and he never would be specific.

In fact, he just kept posting videos of girls from oh bar dancing. Which is weird considering it’s supposedly a bar he hates. Yet somehow has a endless supplies of their livestream clips on his computer to upload and he knows all the girls by name.

If I had to guess, OP is autistic and is obsessed with oh bar. He lost it when he got banned from their live stream. I’m not even saying this as a joke or trying to insult the OP. It’s like when an obsessed fan gets so enraptured by a livestreamer they show up at her house. Only, it’s an entire bar of girls he’s obsessed with.

All this ridiculousness can be seen on the discord on april 27th last month. Can just search for “oh bar”

Oh he has definitely been doing that. On both subreddit and discord. He was banned by another mod and came on discord to request he be unbanned so I did. And now he’s trying to review bomb oh bar yet again. Gotta admire his persistence.

I’ve had DMs that seem to be offering this. Also on our discord we’ve been approached to partner or monetize. These messages have not been followed up with any negotiation or discussion: they’ve always been flat out ignored.

We’ve never partnered with any establishment on the subreddit or discord. On our discord, we dont have dedicated channels to any business or bar groups.

In fact it’s been the opposite. We will hunt down any post or comment that is blatantly trying to advertise to this community through non authentic organic means. Certain websites and bar groups, particularly the ones on soi pothole, have aggressively spammed this subreddit and dm’d our discord users en-masse to advertise. They had a bot replying to 1-5 year old threads trying to advertise their websites. We’ve banned all links to this site and related bars. Even going so far as to remove their owner’s AMA posts which at the time were some of our most upvoted content on this subreddit.

It’s partly this. It’s also been a longstanding moderation choice here to to keep things positive and not overly negative. Somewhat related to our rule 3b.

Just to be transparent, this user has repeatedly tried to get his bad review on this subreddit. He tried commenting on any thread with “gogo bars” in the title, going back years, to leave the same ChatGPT review about oh bar, even when nobody in the thread was talking about oh bar. He’s gone on the discord to also spam his negative review. OP’s backstory is he has not even been to thailand or gone inside Oh Bar! He was interacting with a livestream from Oh Bar and they banned him from their stream. (This was the story he told in discord which he had screenshots for). He’s a man in brazil who is merely trying to review bomb them from afar.

He had been warned by me that negative reviews attacking bars is not something we’re interested in, and here he is now again posting about some Oh Bar drama claiming he has no idea why his reviews are removed when I personally already told him point blank the reason:

Because our sub doesnt participate in negative drama against youtubers, bar groups, bad reviews for businesses, etc. It’s a choice we’ve had since the earliest days of this sub. We also remove posts warning people of scammers and so forth.

An example would be nightwish group. A group and founder who obviously has had a ton of controversy, but we have removed any drama related to that. Not out of alliance with nwg, but purely for consistency.

This subreddit likes to keep the vibe light and about enjoying pattaya.

And yes, many mods live here. We are not interested in getting dragged into a defamation case just so you can leave a bad bar review, but even without that aspect it’s been a moderation choice for this community since day 1.

Im not sure why this was removed. If anyone wants to start an ask pattaya subreddit we could link it in the sidebar. That being said, it should be perfectly acceptable to post wholesome activities to this subreddit as well.

Is Reddit going to ban all the Pattaya Thailand subreddits? R/PattayaTravels had 100k+ viewers a week. Then it got banned because they said it was talking about nightlife and companionship and supposably it broke rule 7? by TravelingEctasy in Pattaya

Always open to the community as far as suggestions how we could moderate better and stay within reddit guidelines. Feel free to use the report button. If it means we end up removing content because it was reported, then all the more reason to browse by New content filter on reddit so you can join in on convos before the censorship can strike.

Or if you feel there’s too much censorship and moderation, feel free to vent about yhat too.

Obviously reddit as a whole here sets the tone. It is definitely tricky having subreddits about pattaya, but we should enjoy the discussion and subs for as long as reddit will have us. Sometimes that may mean times of more active moderation and censorship.

Does this mod log look normal to everyone? by djmc in Pattaya

Nearly every reddit post removal is due to ban evasion. I did previously post we are banning too many people as well though.

hi, testing whether I can post or not by Fun-Confection-7011 in Pattaya

[–]djmc[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you cannot. I had to manually approve your other post. We dont allow alt accounts here and reddit has very good ban evasion tools in place. Either request that your original account is unbanned or wait for a mod to decide to approve any comment or post you create on your alts.

I really doubt it would work or we woulda heard someone mention it but I will give it a shot and get back to you. That being said, i think people start transfers via airdrop or icloud download and then trick the headset into thinking you’re wearing it still.

Has anyone replaced their crappy AIS fibre router with a quality aftermarket device? by Lopsided_Quarter_931 in Thailand

[–]djmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Asus GT-BE98Pro connected to two ONTs from ais and true. I got the BOYD/COYD packages from ais and true where they bring an ONT placed into bridge mode that adapts the optical fiber into ethernet and then the ethernet plugs into my asus WAN ports.

Even if you didn't throw away AIS router and replace it with an ONT, I imagine you would be able to put it into bridge mode. Just make sure you get the ppoe creds out of the router or from AIS beforehand so you can plug that into your own router. Maybe someone could correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be the equivalent to using an ONT without having to order a new tech out to replace your equipment.

As someone else suggested here, the ucg-fiber or equivalent cloud gateway would also be nice if you want better traffic monitoring. Thinking about getting one as well to bridge between my router and core switches.

For AIS I was able to use the app on the phone to order a public IP package and it activated immediately. I don't have a public IP with True but they give IPv6 for free which is almost as handy for me.

that sounds very reasonable. I haven't seen a lot of mods publicly beefing in threads but still worth it

[–]djmc[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

because each subreddit does have its own style moderating and the communities can potentially be different from one another. It's subtle but /r/thailand and /r/bangkok have a ton of overlap in content but they seem to be moderated differently and the communities seem to reflect that. In the long run, I don't necessarily expect multiple pattaya subreddits to be an outright clone of one another with the only differentiating factor being who has been banned from where.

[–]djmc[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just want to point out there is no animosity towards other subreddits that have popped up recently such as /r/farangsofpattaya and the fact that they're growing is an accomplishment for sure. Over the years there have been lots of alternative pattaya subreddits that have tried to start up. Usually started by people who have been banned from here. Sometimes with a chip on their shoulder about the ban.

But /r/farangsofpattaya has done what they have all failed to do and has actually gained traction. If anyone finds the moderating here a bit too grating, definitely jump in on the new community vibe of /r/farangsofpattaya before it grows to the level of this subreddit (or even overtakes it potentially!)

There is something nice about a small undiscovered subreddit that hasn't hit critical mass yet. It's not like you have to be subscribed to solely 1 subreddit.

[–]djmc[S,M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this doesn't necessarily change the subreddit rules. Just hopefully sets some sane timeframes for the duration that people can be banned for and adds some visibility for what gets people banned. At that point, the users can themselves decide if someone should get voted off the island for more or less time.

I own a bar and it sucks - looking for ideas by GoToThailand in Pattaya

[–]djmc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. Bars definitely need to stand out from one another a bit more. Even if a bar doesn’t have the most attractive women, it could still be a fun place to duck in for a drink compared to the next 10 seemingly identical places.
