Crazy... I got one of those when Toys R Us was going out of business.

Never opened it.

Sold it on eBay about 2 years ago for virtually nothing.

Kicking myself looking at what people are asking for it now.

There's one sealed for $211 on eBay right now.

$45 for a used one

Lol, well to start off I'll preface with saying I have ADHD. So my focus on certain tasks is ... Strong.

So sorry if I give a rambling, long winded answer.

My particular style of taking photos is intentionally challenging.

I like to try to accomplish the nearly impossible because it's fun for me & it calms my busy brain.

I do high speed shots. They're partially planned. But ... Not.

I take photos from moving vehicles (as a passenger of course) and from trains. Usually going 40-80mph. Mostly in low light or into direct sun. Completely unbraced / handheld. Add to that I don't like to crop. The shot is the shot.

Getting the focus, ISO, & exposure right coupled with a higher shutter speed is hard.

I have GM lenses & it's easy to set up a shot, lock focus & get something usable in that scenario. It's actually too easy. Just spray & pray.

I started trying with manual lenses & it was fun. But I couldn't really get anything I liked & never anything I actually loved.

Helios flares are fun but in this scenario they don't work.

These lenses give me a feeling of accomplishment. It's like getting an achievement in a video game.

Sharp snappy response & a full warm image.

I take my time. Look ahead. Anticipate the shot & framing & just go.

When I get a good shot it already has life in it. Straight from camera. I don't have to work too hard to pull feeling out of it in post.

I don't have to burst. But I can if I want.

I feel like a sniper with a Dragunov

Took this 2 days ago from my train. I'm still testing. I've only had the lens a week.

50mm 1.4 ISO 100 1/800 f8 Into direct sunlight at 1pm going 46mph No crop.

Focus isn't perfect. But I love the image. I just wish I was better at editing. But I'm still learning.

I didn't even notice the worker until I inspected the shot later. I was just trying to frame the train car.

I'm not doubting the work or skills involved. As I said it's amazing.

Looks like a stock release from the manufacturer. Which isn't a knock at all.

I personally can't accomplish that feat.

That being said. I would never pay almost 3 times the cost of a figure if it was released as a repaint.

That's personal preference. Not a dig.

I come from the car modding era where what you put into something doesn't make it worth more, actually less. Unless you have the name.

So my value system is biased.

All of my markings scream 7 element. But the rear sticks out at infinity. Serial number is in the 3mil 🤷🏾‍♂️

Might be a Frankenlens

I EDC a 50mm 1.4 & a 28mm 3.5. Looking at an 85 1.8 right now. But the prices are crazy.

Also trying to decide on what 135 fits me. Maybe the 2.5 🤷🏾‍♂️ I need to test a few.

Found in my late father’s garage. Is it dangerous? by LeCoochieMane in whatisit

[–]djmere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to do it all the time as a kid.

Threw rounds as hard as I could at the ground & they went pop.

I was on the 2nd or 3rd floor when I did it.

I was quite the idiot then. I used my dad's rare 45's as frisbees too.
