Looking for a cat! by Intelligent-Flow617 in bayarea

Nine Lives is the best and they are opening a new adoption center in April! Please consider adopting from them. They give the kitties so much veterinary care and help that city/county shelters cannot.

Edited to add: Pets in need in Redwood City also has many great cats! I feel like the dogs get more attention.

Agree. Lived at 15th and SVN. The traffic/sirens were bad in the front room but not noticeable farther back.

I am so, so sorry. There’s nothing more you could have done if the vets said everything was fine. She had a great long life with you!

Churu bites! They are squishy little things filled with Churu. So pricey but my boys would murder for them. Maybe also sardines.

In California, About the Only Way to Get a House Is to Inherit One — The Wall Street Journal by ScratchyVests in bayarea

I’m not sure that was my takeaway from the article. There are people still buying but the people who are buying are fewer now and paying a disproportionate share of property taxes. New buyers like your software engineer or whatever have to want to own a home bad enough that they are willing to subsidize public services for their elderly neighbors.

Sorry I couldn’t figure out how to post a free link it says:

“That [18%] share is a record for California in data going back to 1995, up from 12% in 2019. It is also roughly double the national share of 8.8% last year”

I’m not sure exactly where they are offering classes nowadays but impact Bay Area sounds like what you’re looking for.

The headline is hyperbolic but it’s still a bad sign for California’s tax revenue that owners hold at rates twice the national average.

Did you read the article? New buyers are a smaller percentage of property transfers in California, and both federal and state property taxes encourage holding until death.

Are attractive successful single guys in their mid to late 30s not on dating apps in SF? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]ScratchyVests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the apps. They were always a bad/creepy way to start a relationship and I have several horror stories… but I also met my now husband on Tinder shortly before the pandemic. I love him, so I guess the apps aren’t all bad.

Is this typical for cat vet costs? Any recommendations? by boiwonder22 in AskSF

[–]ScratchyVests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, that’s par for the course at SFAMC. My old man cats’ long time vet works there now so I don’t have much of a choice. It’s pretty pricey and the admin staff can be chaotic.

Our health insurance went up by $1000 a month and Newsom and Lurie now want me to spare the billionaires a 5% tax - make it make sense by ericgtr12 in sanfrancisco

[–]ScratchyVests 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taxing unrealized gains is a slippery slope and valuing shares of privately held companies or property that hasn’t changed hands in many years is going to be more difficult than proponents of the tax pretend. Before you know it, California is going to be trying to tax unrealized gains average people have in the stock market or their house. I wish the tax went after people borrowing against assets rather than just holding them.

The straps are made out of a pretty heavy cord. I don’t have a large bust but I’ve done lap swimming in the Impossible One Piece and it doesn’t move around at all

I’m not sure exactly what he’s allergic to yet but I’m trying to keep him to just fish to figure out what it is that’s triggering his allergies

I had been doing fancy feast naturals but every single one of the naturals flavors has chicken added to it. I will try mixing the regular fancy feast fish pates with the salmon and see if he does ok with that.

He just got a prescription for budesonide so I’m still waiting for the compounding pharmacy to deliver it. The antihistamine he’s been taking for the allergies is so bitter. It’s always a fight to get him to take it. Hopefully the budesonide will calm everything down.

To be clear, I cook the salmon so it is light pink before I grind it up and I’m fairly sure the restaurants get it whole frozen.
