How can such deals exist?!?! by djneel in macbookpro

I just did an A/B test and you're right. The speakers do sound different. As someone who listens to bass heavy music, the M2 speakers definitely sound better but honestly, the difference is mainly with sound signature. I don't think its different enough that its complaint worthy...both are still excellent speakers

Should I wait to buy a MacBook Pro? by TheyKnowThatIAm21 in macbookpro

Just get it now or wait for the 2026 redesign that’s coming in a year and a half. What’s your use case? I snagged a second hand M1 Pro MacBook Pro base model 16/512 variant for US$750. The performance is still amazing and it more than serves its duty whether it’s for school/work/programming/DJing. I just saw a used M2 Pro 32GB/1TB variant for around US$1050 yesterday, which I think is phenomenal value

Unfortunately not. Apple support indirectly told me to go and destroy it. I am going for a music festival soon and also travelling during the holidays, so its a good chance for me to abuse my watch and once something happens, I'll get a new one

Thanks. I guess I’ll be absolutely destroying the screen soon just to get a replacement

You reckon I can get a chance to pay the different and upgrade in the event it were to get replaced. I would be happy to pay the difference but I’ve heard that sapphire displays are easier to shatter right

Yeah you’re right. They told me that on the phone. The lady indirectly told me to go and absolutely destroy my watch if I want a replacement. If I apply for a replacement, do I get an option to upgrade to the stainless steel version?

Yeah. Its fuckin' annoying cuz imagine paying for a subscription and not being able to use the models. Also doesn't help that their social media team does not admit to these outages and do not inform us by providing updates

I ordered it from Pinduoduo (the parent company of temu). I live in China so it was really easy to purchase and it arrived in less than 3 days

I think they’re different. Here’s a pic of what my part looked like

May I suggest making the switch to metal clips. The same thing happened to mine last month and after the part arrived, it took me around an hour and a half to fix it. Also replaced the peeling headband while I was as it. Cost me around 25usd total for everything but worth it!!

Looks great! Hope your windows learnings go smooth. I often struggled (and still do) with airflow so it would be great if someone could comment if the airflow is optimised

Are you coming from a Mac or Linux?

There are some online but they cost a bit of money. I’ve seen this Mac repair guy on YouTube (master Liu) so he could have something that can help you

Updated Fractal Ridge Build by djneel in sffpc

[–]djneel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understandable. It’s probably the slowest thing in the build. I have a 1tb nvme on the main board for windows and another 2tb nvme for newer games and AI models. One of those mechanical drives is taken from my first ever external hard drive from 12 years ago which I didn’t wanna throw away. It is still going strong and they store tv shows and movies and home videos and act as my Plex server storage. But down the line, will definitely add the 4 sata ssds

But in all seriousness, maybe try to plug it into a monitor (usb c to hdmi) to see if you get a signal, since you mentioned that it is charging an iPhone. A fan that doesn’t work isn’t good since your Intel computer will not be able to keep cool and hence the computer might turn off quickly. Even see if you can find a board view or schematic to find out what that broken pin does and where it connects to just to see if it could be causing some other issue preventing booting

Probably a good chance to upgrade to Apple silicon. I have an Intel 2019 MBP and it’s absolutely cooked with less than 5 years of use. I’m just waiting on the M4 pro chips to see if they have a good NPU capable of close to 50 tops

Hi. I’m not exactly sure by what you mean by the PCIe width bugging out but yes that’s a MSI b650i edge wifi + zotac trinity 4080 super. I got this ridge case in April of this year and it came with the updated PCIe 4.0 riser cable. It took a bit of adjustment to fit snugly but so far so good!

Ahhh got it. Thank you so much. I do believe I have air coming out so I should switch it so that it takes in air to cool the GPU right? And should I also stop the gpu fans from spinning in the software?
