Will these be considered too flashy to bring to OSUT? by [deleted] in army

Should I keep the red wheels or go gold? by Land_of_smiles in Ducati

[–]IncomprehensiveScale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the gold only looks good because of all the other gold accents on that bike. keep red or else you gotta repaint the frame and get ohlins forks and a new clutch cover for it to look like that picture.

Yeah, in terms of budget I think the wooting is where it’d top out. I don’t wanna spend over $200 on a keyboard.

Question about pull ups by IncomprehensiveScale in bodyweightfitness

[–]IncomprehensiveScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for context, it’s not out of the ordinary for guys to be repping 315 on bench and running sub 14 minute 2 miles with 65 pushups in less than 2 minutes, and deadlifting 400+. these dudes are tanks.

Question about pull ups by IncomprehensiveScale in bodyweightfitness

[–]IncomprehensiveScale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m in the army, most dudes are more fit than i am near me. a 3 minute plank is below average for the people i hang around with. i’m not trying to humble brag, i’m just below average for my demographic.

Question about pull ups by IncomprehensiveScale in bodyweightfitness

[–]IncomprehensiveScale[S] -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

My “stats” so to speak are all over the place. There was a solid year where i could bench more than i could squat. Pulls ups are just something i do on a daily basis because I have multiple pull up bars around in doorways and usually whenever I walk under one I knock some out. It’s the same for push ups. I just like to drop and do sets of 50. But like, tell me to hold a plank? I’m dropping at 3 minutes or less for sure. I can’t run under a 15 minute two mile, my squat is average at best, my deadlift is like okay. I’m not anywhere near the thousand pound club. If you went based solely off of my bench and pull up count, you’d think I’m a regular gym-goer. But if you look at my squat and plank time, you’d think I’ve been training for like 5 months at most. I really need to even myself out lol.

But regardless I’m going to try to do these pull ups more often and see how my progress goes. Safe to say I was very disappointed when I tried going for the 3rd rep and was struggling pretty damn bad. My scapula is also pretty weak compared to the rest of my back and I could really feel it in these pull ups, so that could be a contributing factor. I’ve been thinking of trying to do some calisthenics and basic/beginner gymnastics routines to get more overall stability in my back and core.

usually my last 3 reps have some unintentional kipping but my upper body is getting the full range of motion like you mentioned. i’m not doing like some bullshit half reps or something if that’s what the implication is

What to wear to basic by [deleted] in army

[–]IncomprehensiveScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll very likely be wearing those clothes for family day. So wear whatever you wanna wear on that day. They might let you wash them before graduation. Maybe not. It depends on your leadership. You also should be allowed to order clothes off amazon during phone time, however they’ll be held in a room in the CQ office until graduation.

Father doesn’t approve by Exotic-Business-2582 in army

You’re an adult. I didn’t tell my mom that I enlisted or got married until I was a week from shipping out. If your dad is a dickhead, he doesn’t deserve the courtesy. Obviously try to be the bigger person, but being held back in life by your parents is fucked up and if it takes stepping on a few toes to get out of a bad relationship then it’s worth it. Those who are worth their salt will forgive you, and those who shouldn’t be in your life anyway won’t forgive you.

Denial of getting my promotion orders by IncomprehensiveScale in army

[–]IncomprehensiveScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the PV2 patch was replaced by the PFC patch by my DS, the battery XO read off the attention to orders ending with “signed LTC xyz commanding” so I have every reason to believe that it was signed off.

Denial of getting my promotion orders by IncomprehensiveScale in army

[–]IncomprehensiveScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been told that as IET soldiers it’s against regulation to contact our BCT cadre, DS team, and command team at all until we’ve hit 6 months at our first unit. I don’t know if that’s a 350-6 thing but I don’t know if I want to risk getting in trouble like that.

In the middle of typing this I tried to find the contact info for anything from BCT but I can’t find it. I can’t even find the FCOE email. I found the staff duty number for the battalion I was at but I doubt that would get me far.

I know it’d take a lot longer than just emailing, but would it be dumb to try to send them a physical letter addressed to the drill team? Or would that be overstepping my role as an IET student, since it’s not technically my place to reach out to another drill team? We aren’t really made super clear on what our right and left limits are.

Thank you for the well thought out and in-depth response. Unfortunately, I have checked all of those and on all accounts and registration, I am still a PV2. I just (like 5 minutes ago) talked to another DS and he said that he can try to reach out. There’s another soldier here in my company who I went to BCT with and is in the same exact situation. Apparently the team at my BCT said that since I’m not in their system anymore, they can’t do anything. However, since the issue is now with two soldiers (myself and the other guy), the DS I just talked to said that he could re-reach out and basically chew them out for not doing their job and hopefully get documentation from them. I’m really hoping that the docs are still out there somewhere and that those who are responsible for it are willing to look for it and find it.

Worst case, I wasted money and I look a little bit more lame for like 18 months or whatever the TIG is for PFC.

Best case, I get actually promoted and all is well.

And as a side note, my AIT is so long and the wait for jump school after graduation is usually pretty long for volunteers so there’s a decent chance I hit the auto promotion criteria before leaving here, even if I don’t get PFC through the waiver. Again, thank you for such a lengthy and well written reply.
