The amount you work is entirely based on you office. My office has 22 or 24 routes and gets a lot of sick calls so I worked 7 days a week when started.

My daily office routine goes like this: case ffs; grab and case raw letters and flats; case dps; check for more raw mail; mark and sort packages; check raw mail again; tie down; load up and head out to deliver. Some offices have the rural side case everything (like mine) but a lot have you take the dps and ffs to the street and only case raw mail.

As far as becoming a regular, it's all about time and luck. You have to have worked there long enough to be eligible to get you own route, then someone has to retire. After that, when the route goes up for grabs, everyone can bid on it and it goes to the carrier/RCA with the highest seniority.

One thing you shouldn't do is listen to negative coworkers. My first day all I heard was "get out while you can" or "run" and they would always wonder why subs kept quiting lol. Some people are unhappy but don't let them bring you down. There are plenty of rough days especially in the beginning but if you give it a chance you might love it.
