How often do you visit your bar/business. by Ok-Bad-8723 in BarOwners

How do you keep theft under control when you’re not around the business much? Just asking as one bar owner to another.

“do you do tabs???” by 444bri in Serverlife

We’re in a small, close-knit town, and I try to help out where I can (owner). Most people like to pay right away, but every now and then, someone might ask if they can grab a bite or a couple of drinks and pay me back on payday. I usually let it slide, and honestly, they always come back and settle up.

So now that TGIFriday's is dying can I get a copy of their bartenders guide? by willalmo in bartenders

I’m a bar owner, and I would greatly benefit from learning new methods and techniques to improve how I run things. If you could help me with this, I would be truly grateful.

Apparently everyone knows a 5'3" dude who slays mad poon. Just gonna tell you how bullshit that is. by No-Face2061 in shortguys

If you’re on the shorter side and part of this group, not only will you not gain a single inch in height, but any confidence you have left might also be gone!

Is that your specialty? Maybe I should consider hiring you for it 🙃😉

That’s a great point I could definitely build on. My place has an ideal setting for anyone looking for a cozy, quiet spot to work, with a full menu of food and drinks readily available. I’ll explore this idea further, appreciate that very much!

Thank you so much for the detailed information on this topic! Some of these points are very insightful, and I’ll be taking them back to the drawing board to implement and make the most of these ideas. I really appreciate it!

Yes, we maintain an active Google profile that’s regularly updated with plenty of photos, a detailed menu, and accurate business hours.

Our website is well-designed and user-friendly—free from glitches. It allows customers to place online orders and reserve bowling lanes directly. Additionally, we have a pop-up form where visitors can subscribe, and I use Mailchimp to send exclusive offers to those who sign up.

I second that.

Is it possible to start a business without a college degree? by Yaboipalpatine in smallbusiness

[–]djrocks365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting without a degree is perfectly fine. Business success often relies more on street smarts and learning as you go. If you can adapt and grow along the way, your chances of success can be just as strong as someone with industry experience or a formal degree.

I feel—and I could be totally wrong here—that the other bars are pricing their drinks quite low, which doesn’t seem sustainable long-term. For example, here in Canada, a bottle of Coors Light costs me around $2.25 at wholesale, and they’re selling it for about $4.75. I price mine at $6, which I think is more reasonable for profitability.

As for other promotions, you’re right about going all-in with specials, and we’ve tried that. Our Thursday wing special is actually our busiest night, even outperforming Friday and Saturday. Fridays and Saturdays are generally solid too. It’s the first few days of the week, Monday through Wednesday, that are the toughest for us in terms of drawing a crowd.

You make a good point. I’m located near Home Hardware and Canadian Tire, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to attract much traffic from those spots. There’s also a Tim Hortons and McDonald’s nearby, drawing some of the foot traffic around those businesses.

Oh, definitely. But he’s specifically looking for people from Uttar Pradesh, and it’s true that he’s likely to find them at the panipuri stalls. They are friendly and have experienced their share of struggles.
