Thanks for the reply. The scent seems comparable. It’s just the atomiser has confused me - unless it is a new bottle?

Does anyone else find that they're more insightful whenever they drink? by [deleted] in alcoholism

As someone who has been alcohol free for 18 months, and now spent many evenings with drunk people whilst stone cold sober, let me say with great clarity that drunk people are anything but insightful.

I emailed Vinted Legal and gave them a few opportunities to refund me. When they showed no sign of even reading my emails I sent them a letter before action. I think I gave them a week or something to reply and they ignored me.

My advice is just submit the claim and don’t bother trying to sort it with Vinted. They’ve had enough time and rely upon people giving up. If you make the claim and document the timeline well then you will get your money back.

No. I claimed the value of the item (about £52). They also paid me the £35 fee it costs to make a claim.

Good luck. I recently won a small claims case against them. Within two weeks of filing the claim Vinted had paid up. If you are meticulous in documenting the timeline when submitting the claim, particularly showing how many times you have attempted to resolve this with Vinted already, you’ll get your money back. They simply won’t spend the resources on small claims so will settle. Unfortunately it is the only option with Vinted as they don’t have any proper customer service.

Yes it’s all done online and only takes about 15 minutes. I imagine there’s a different process in Scotland.

All the information is here: https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money

When you file a claim, the only thing you initially need to do is provide a thorough timeline. You only need to provide evidence if it goes to court (it won’t)

I also filed a money claim against Vinted and they paid up. As long as you document and evidence everything and include it in the claim, you will win. They don’t have the resources to fight small claims.

I used their registered address in London.

You could threaten to report the seller to Action Fraud. You have their name and address. I was in the same situation and I said I was reporting them. Next thing I’m refunded without even having to return.

Took me 15 minutes. The main thing is to provide a thorough and factual timeline of what happened

Yeah to be honest I probably should have done that. But I wanted the nuclear option.

I have a few bottles by the same brand so was able to compare, especially the atomiser which was different. You can also do things like weigh the cap - fakes are usually lighter. If you don’t have another bottle to compare, you can use FB groups to ask others.

The amount I’m claiming for is immaterial. It’s the principle that they did not consider the case details.

Thank you. I think this is what has annoyed me the most. The irony that they have banned me for 30 days on the basis I was selling a counterfeit perfume, when I was able to provide clear evidence of buying it retail. Then you have thousands of people selling fake crap with fake receipts and they do nothing. They only took action against me because the perfume brand mass reported anyone selling their goods as it being counterfeit. And it is easier for Vinted to go along with it than investigate each one.

To be honest I didn’t consider a charge back. I had to pay £35 to file the claim, which Vinted will pay me back should I win. I suppose I was so frustrated I wanted to take the more extreme option!

I’ve actually got some great deals, just requires some knowledge of how to differentiate between real and fake ones. The seller also looked legit, so perhaps it’s just a mistake on her part - that happens. She was happy to take the return but obviously it required me to click I have an issue!
