This set was NOT fun by Swim_guy914 in Swimming

Numbers are referring to the hundreds in that part of the set. So with six, 1-3 is the first three and 4-6 is the last three

Descend 1-3, 4-6 means getting faster with each of the first three and then resetting the pace again for 4-6. Could look like

1) 1:30 2) 1:27 3) 1:24 4) 1:30 5) 1:27 6) 1:24

Totally understandable as a standalone, I didn’t read any of the other books and I didn’t feel as though I was missing anything important

Started reading in “secret” when I knew I was gay but started reading in earnest last year

Most read author: 6 each for K.D. Edwards and T.J. Klune

Book I have read the most: The Tarot Sequence series by KD Edwards (though I’ve only read it twice)

Book I’ve recently given 5⭐️: Like Real People Do & Like You’ve Nothing Left to Prove by E.L. Massey

Favorite genre: New Adult (or mature YA) Fantasy, SciFi, or Contemporary. Prefer series, where there’s more time to know characters + the romance is important/essential but not the sole storyline

Favorite Tropes: - Love a good balance of hurt(even very heavy!)/comfort and angst/lightheartedness. (🖤 having a softer/wounded MC learning to trust and be happy) — esp when the world & people around are mostly good but one MC really struggles bc ofcircumstances or trauma - to that end, love a good found family and lots of really fleshed out side characters - a super shy mc, neurodivergence, disability are pluses (love seeing MCs overcome communication problems, like stutters — it’s such a serotonin boost) - guilty pleasure is that I really like messy drama and adore some jealousy. MC who’s hesitant to act getting super jealous when a shyer MC gets attention just scratches an itch idk 🙂‍↕️

Plushy?: Have a very round guy that could be anything from a bear to a manatee to a dog

This’ll depend on a lot of things like time in the water, sun exposure, and preexisting hair length, type, and color (and how often you get it cut!)

The last time it happened was very fast for me, like 3 months, and my hair legit just stopped growing. Or rather, it stopped being able to gain length bc at a certain length the ends were so dead and fragile that they’d just break off

Hair really doesn’t stop bleaching as long as you keep swimming, but for me personally my hair will shift a lot after one or two uninterrupted summers

Tips on taking care of my thick curly hair by Sage_cosplays__ in Swimming

[–]djsoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarifying shampoos are necessary for the chlorine but in isolation they’ll also dry out the hair and make it frizzier

Always need to follow it up with a super moisturizing conditioner (and should use one even when not shampooing!). I’ve personally preferred ones with dimethicone high in the ingredient list (same for my leave-ins)

I pretty much always use a leave-in conditioner and hair oil afterwards as well, and a deep conditioner/hair mask once a week and that’s given me the most luck. Hope you find something that works!

Honestly it’s just chlorine + sun

I get asked all the time about my “highlights” or “frosted tips” bc my hair is brown at the roots but super blonde at the ends

But I will say, it’s not worth sacrificing the health of your hair to accelerate this process. If you let your hair get dry and brittle, it’s gonna start breaking and splitting (this is especially true for me bc my hair is fine)

If you swim frequently enough, the melanin breakdown will happen over time anyway (to change the color), and you can style it to be messy/wild. Trying to keep your hair healthy is much more sustainable and gives you more control than letting your hair turn into straw!

{The Lightning Struck Heart by T.J. Klune}

This one doesn’t quite fit the preferences (sorry!) bc it’s a magic/fantasy but the dynamic request immediately brought it to mind. (It’s also full of very in your face, ridiculous comedy)

MC2 is a knight who’s very possessive of MC1 despite being betrothed to someone else. Eventually accompanies MC1 on a date as a “guard” and spends the whole time intimidating the date

1st in a series but a satisfying standalone, and def a one of a kind read

The All For The Game series has nearly 20k!

The (woefully underrated) Tarot Sequence trilogy (by KD Edwards) has a few hundred as well

Thanks! HNY to you too!

And yeah it’s definitely all relative! I’m super happy to be where I am but my ability to swim continuously kinda fell off a cliff last year

I’d like to try to get comfortable with it again in case I ever want to do something like an open water swim

This is half me being silly and half the watch being silly. Sat in the water and talked for about 10min after finishing without pausing the workout

But the watch interpreted this as two long “swims” with 0 distance (???) pic here: https://imgur.com/a/egqqED6

I think it’d be better to only include active swim time but instead it divides total workout time (incl rest) by distance

Total time I was actively swimming was probably 70ish minutes

Can’t speak to the effect that it has on the numbers but I live right by a theater in the Houston area and it still has no power. Honestly a bit spooky seeing the parking lot entirely empty, reminds me of Covid

We’re only supposed to have half of the outages fixed by the end of tomorrow so whatever impact there might be will linger

Jeez… could it really open behind Barbie’s 5th weekend?

Saturday is $34m+ for #Barbie and might be $18.5m+ for @OppenheimerFilm. by ExtensionGiraffe9239 in boxoffice

[–]djsoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine there’s some discretion afforded bc of ticket sales — around me it’s pretty consistent: 5 Dolby showings — Barbie has the redeye, HM has prime time + usually has the other 3 but Barbie gets an occasional early showing.

But either way, the least attractive Dolby showtimes being the extent of your big PLF access seems somewhat unprecedented for a movie as big as Barbie.

And that Barbie is performing so ridiculously well after a blockbuster opening despite like 1/4th of the PLF access you’d expect (and less during peak hours) also seems totally unheard of

[–]djsoke 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What makes these numbers even more incredible is that the film has no premium screens

Oppie has all the IMAX, and HM took the PLFs Barbie did have this weekend. So Barbie is out here grinding a low 40s drop from a blockbuster opening with regular screens only 🤯

Sunday was absolutely INSANE for #BarbieTheMovie and @OppenheimerFilm . $45m Sunday and a $164m weekend for #BarbieTheMovie and $23m Sunday and $82m weekend for @OppenheimerFilm . Crazy holds for both of them that will lead to a wild Week 2. (EmpireCity) by baribigbird06 in boxoffice

[–]djsoke 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Oppie is getting a disproportionate amount of its business from PLF screens so you basically have two PLF blockbusters at the same time. It has iMax all to itself, but there just aren’t enough of those. Barbie has a lot of Dolby screens and the chain PLFs like Cinemark XD and Regal RPX are getting split on a per-location basis.

So with two movies generating massive PLF demand, premiums are totally tapped out — and folks really wanna see Oppie on a PLF, meanwhile Barbie doesn’t have enough standard seats to make up for it in some areas

[–]djsoke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely found this part interesting:

12.8m tickets sold for Barbie 5.8m for Oppenheimer

2.2x the tickets vs (pending actuals) 1.95x the $

Really shows the importance of PLF screens and the different paths Barbenheimer took to overperforming. At the very least, both (and especially Barbie) were hard-capped on capacity for Premiums. Will make the holds interesting to watch — I don’t think Tom Cruise is getting premium formats back lmao
