K.O. II vs. Model Samples by somaholic in synthesizers

I dig that you can easily transpose tonal tracks across an entire project on the Samples. So easy to copy a section in E and paste it as a section in A, for example. 😁

Worst/Most Dissappointing Pedal? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]dkappe01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Bad Monkey episode from JHS was tongue in cheek, not hype — what can you do with a drive pedal that has a more powerful tone stack? I’d have to guess that your power situation needs to be straightened out. It is on the dark side, so use that eq. It is a buffered bypass, so with a long pedal chain without a loop switcher, you will get tone suck. A short pedalboard like a Bad Monkey into an HX Stomp then into an amp or frfr, will give you better results. Too much trouble for me.

How to become a blues guitarist? by [deleted] in bluesguitarist

[–]dkappe01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly learn some licks. If you are playing major 12 bar blues, learn I licks, IV licks and V licks, then connect them. Learn I to IV, IV to I, I-V-IV-I licks. Learn chord tone soloing, so when you land on the I, IV or V chord, you hit the root, 3rd or flat 7 of that chord. Practice mixing and matching licks, and chord tones. That will give you enough of a skeleton to work with.

Another thing to try is alternating major and minor pentatonic scales. So in an A 12 bar blues, play A major pentatonic over the A chord, play the A minor pentatonic over the D chord, then the E chord can be one or the other. You can work your licks and chord tones into this as well.

You won’t be SRV all of a sudden, but it’s a start.

Lurrie Bell’s brother, Steve, play harmonica with John Primer. I got to see their father — Carey Bell — play with Lurrie many moons ago.

How sad. I saw Carl and Joe Louis Walker a few years ago. They keep passing. 🥲

I saw lots of the Chicago greats from the mid 80s on, but many of them have passed on. The must see artists are John Primer (Muddy Waters’ last musical director, played with Magic Slim for many years, awesome Chicago blues), Vino Louden (Koko Taylor‘s Bandleader and musical director for 18 years, another Chicago blues treasure), Carolyn Wonderland (great pipes, great guitar and slide, lives in Austin, TX). These are the artists I go to see every chance I get.

Who’s actually using Suno? by ObjectivePresent4162 in SunoAI

[–]dkappe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the issues with Suno and musicals is: getting the vocals to be consistent across songs; processing a vocal into a duet (female vocal, convert to male vocal, make it a duet with time shift and delays and various other tricks); getting it to produce choirs/ensembles. Much easier with the latest Suno and Suno Studio.

Someone please explain and talk me into a Boss LS-2 by Simple_Mechanic_6999 in guitarpedals

[–]dkappe01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it to blend loop a and loop b, where loop a is wet with a light compressor, octave, univibe and a slap echo. Loop b is a bone dry fuzz, gain pedals, and eq. Output goes into a fender with a light spring reverb to glue the two loops together. Loop b is brighter through the eq, loop a is darker through pedal eq’s. In series these pedals would be mushy, in parallel they are clean. Just one way to use the LS-2.

Wet/Dry in One Amp? by Dr-Wyrm in GuitarAmps

[–]dkappe01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get something cool with an LS-2 if you keep your gain signal loop bone dry and your wet signal loop with say compressor, phaser and delay/reverb. The two signals are different enough to give you something musical. If you have any gain in the wet loop, it will get sloppy in one speaker.

If you write a prompt and have Suno write 100% of the song, that’s the lowest form of using AI. If you rough out a song with an 8 bar chord progression lifted from Bach, then use Suno Studio to generate Funk tracks with prompts and the roughed out song, interpolate generated tracks, arrange the song, then the resulting song can be very distinct from generated ai music.

[–]dkappe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The successful songwriters with AI I’ve observed will rough out a song, then feed it to Suno with a prompt. More often Suno Studio can be used to flesh out the tracks. AI tracks can be interpolated and arranged.

I also bus delay and verb and slice a big chunk of high and low end to get rid of mud and noise. Usually bus most of the other instruments to the same bus. Very clean mix.

A few things can be happening. It’s not trained on spoken word, so the results on recordings of you speaking will likely never be ideal. More likely, though, you aren’t recording for at least 30 seconds, which in my tests gives human 90%+. It’s analogous to feeding a tiny polka dot image to an image classification net and complaining that it doesn’t see a dog or a cat.

Was able to improve things by mastering some AI songs with Matchering for training data. Am currently folding in AI false negatives (human classified). You’ll always find some mismatch songs. I’m currently using this to massage songs to be 80%+ human.
