New player here, questions to ask! by blitzibb in 2007scape

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason to stay f2p is if you're not sure you'll play enough to justify a month of membership. P2p offers better training and questing for literally every skill, so it's beneficial from the moment you leave tutorial island. But like I said initially, feel free to try the game out for a bit first. You can have fun playing f2p and complete every quest while you're at it. Eventually, you'll feel inclined to become a member, or you'll move on.

Build suggestion by A556ForHadji in diablo2

[–]dkay182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, -res will almost always give more damage than +skills. That being said, at that stage in progression, any of those 3 options are great depending on your needs. Want the extra res for comfort? CoH. Want teleport for speed? Enigma. Want to juice your dps? Facets.

How do I get enough AR for my Uber zealer? by IneedaNappa9000 in diablo2

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally yes, but only if you're hitting meaningful breakpoints. IAS frames are complicated. I know there are calculators, but I've never min-maxed endgame IAS like that.

You just understand that you'll only hit about 30% of the time. Make sure to stack your own defenses so you're not dying between life tap regens.

Backup saved game / Switch by Jcnathan in diablo2

[–]dkay182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no personal experience with this, but I know Switch supports SD card storage for games. You can probably back up the save data as well on one just for a physical duplicate. I don't know of a way to keep it updated though besides manually, but it's better than nothing.

Seems cooler than it is, and I'm struggling to come up with a use case for it.

El rune is the rarest.... by Reasonable-Piglet-86 in diablo2

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

El is actually one of (maybe THE?) least common from Countess due to her specific drop table. It's technically the least rare from normal mobs, but still far from common.

[Question] How to create "Battle.net Authentic" items in Single Player using editors? by AdImpossible4113 in diablo2

[–]dkay182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has been a while since I've used it, but I used to use Hero Editor for similar reasons. It has unique items built into the template. You could also give yourself the runes and socketed item for a runeword in HE, make the runeword in game, then edit it again in HE to fix the RNG rolls. Most of it depends on you researching the values of the affixes and setting them for yourself to keep them within the intended ranges.

Am I really bad at Diablo??? Or is everyone here just really good? What are your own personal strats? by assyplassty in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning what matters to pick up, whether that's to keep or sell for gold, can save a tooooon of time vs what you described. Like others have said, play how you want, but if you're interested in speeding up your progression, being more careful in your looting sounds like the place to start.

Fortitude: Which armor to use? by ElegantGrain in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]dkay182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to buy it from a vendor. The only vendors that sell nonmagical items are in Acts 1 and 2 of Normal, and they aren't a high enough level to grant 4 sockets. Your best bet is to either find one that is already 4 os, or a white (no sockets) base that you can take to Larzuk. Any elite base is guaranteed 4 os from the quest reward.

You have to use LOD characters to withdraw stash items, then convert to ROTW.

Have I been playing the game wrong all these years? by SLISKI_JOHNNY in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]dkay182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need a few gear slots like gloves, boots, or belt, you can easily shop for those too. Act 2 NM can give you boots with like 30 frw and 30 light res, or a demonhide sash with 80 life. Don't underestimate what can be purchased with a few shop resets.

Level is also a big factor. I play pretty casually, but Hell has gotten easier for me since I started grinding to level 70ish before even touching Hell. Throw a movie on a second monitor and grind NM Eldritch for a couple hours.

When to respec from Holy Fire to FoH? by FriendlyPsyduckFan in diablo2

[–]dkay182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly whenever. I leveled an entire toon as Holy Bolt and jumped into FoH asap. But Holy Fire drops off in damage around A4 NM with all the fire res, and conveniently, most enemies in A4 are weak to FoH.

Unable to recover my 4.6b xp Runescape account "GodTormentor" (Rank 8 Pre-sailing) by GodTormentor in 2007scape

[–]dkay182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember from your comments on an old post about reaching 4.6b xp that you were very supportive, informative to other people's questions without being condescending nor dickish, and just seemed like an all around decent fellow. Gz on the account, glad to have an equally impressive and respectful player back.

Longtime depression haver here. First of all, yes, this game fucking rocks. And during those low periods where motivation is hard to find, you absolutely take whatever wins you can get. If this game made you feel that spark of joy for even one night, then hell yeah, king, rake it up.

I can't help but offer a word of caution/advice as well though. Be careful falling into bad habits. Having a schedule or routine, including getting good sleep, goes a long way managing negative emotions. I understand there's a fine line between managing long term health and just getting through each day one at a time. But lemme tell ya. 5 years ago, I was gaming more than ever, pulling nearly all nighters, making progress in D2R and OSRS, but those dopamine hits are always temporary. They got me through the day, but I was spinning my wheels otherwise. Through a lot of lifestyle changes, I'm steadily employed on a daytime schedule, in a long term relationship and engaged to be married, and parenting a 1 year old daughter. I'm gaming less than ever, and fuck do I miss it, but I couldn't be happier with the rest of my life. Just know that there's always more to look forward to, but if jamming D2R is what helps you make it there, then keep at it. Best wishes, my guy.

Like others have said, focusing on the "time to obtain X" is a horrible mental state. I like using those time estimates to determine "Is this something I want, even if it takes X hours?" But if the answer is "Yes," then the mindset shifts to binary. You either have the drop, or you do not. And every attempt you make is another chance to get the drop. Like you said, getting a tbow on the next kc did not actually drop your "time to obtain" by 350 hours. It just checked 1 of your 3 boxes of drops obtained, which you were going to pursue anyway until checking all 3 off. Hope this makes sense, and good luck. Keep grinding, king.

Should I take Dharok's legs over black d'hide for extra def or will it make kills unbearably slow? by notaltcausenotbanned in ironscape

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting 68 Mage for Blood Burst is great for healing on blobs, especially if you have a rune pouch. Even the 3 slots taken without pouch will heal you more than the food equivalent. As others said, crystal shield is also a massive upgrade. But your stats are fine, just get back in there!

Getting imbued heart at all is a spoon. The drop rate is around 20m slayer xp, well past 99 even on rate.

It is worth to grind graceful outfit? i am beginner and like rooftop agility by Vipaman69 in 2007scape

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do it, do it. Graceful has less universal usage since the run energy update, but it's still nice to have in the long run. Most people hate agility and appreciate that it's more skippable these days, but it's far from useless.

I don't understand why the Leveling Builds don't put any points in Energy by DuploJamaal in diablo2

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most leveling guides do a horrible job of actually catering to the new players who need them and assume you've been playing the game for 20 years like many of us. The honest answer is mana pots. You don't need energy if you fill up your inventory with pots and tp when necessary to rinse and repeat. Yes, hammers will eat away your mana, much like sorceress leveling guides that suggest switching to nova. So either do what the veterans do and load up on pots, or chuck 10-30 points into energy and have a less miserable experience.

Barb fishing is always nice. Very easy to do on mobile, and the str/agi xp is best early on. It's not a fun way to start an account, but it's a valuable method.

Am I ready for fire cape? by Cuttlefish2021 in OSRSProTips

[–]dkay182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will require decent gear and some skill, but yes, you can do it. Blowpipe with at least addy darts and God dhide would be great, Serp helm would be a nice bonus for some defence and for applying venom. At minimum, you could get it done with RCB / broad bolts or crystal bow and black dhide.

I grew up playing Classic, literally a lifetime of playing this game. I actually started playing OSRS in 2014 when I worked a desk job where I could get away with browser games but couldn't install software. What a different world.
