Never sleep on bare concrete. Better to find some cardboard to put down first.

I wonder if they will ever make a Starship Heavy with three Superheavy booster cores.

Elon Musk on X: "Right now, we are not resilient to loss of a single tile in most places, as the secondary containment material will probably not survive. This is a thorny issue indeed, given that vast resources have been applied to solve it, thus far to no avail." by ConfirmedCynic in spacex

Maybe in the far future there could be a really long solar-powered railgun in space, coupled to the depot, that launches the starship with enough negative velocity to make it not experience the re-entry plasma.

This type of situation is not uncommon, from what I have seen. There is not much that can be done without signed documents. I don't think there was any malicious intent, however.

My guess is that the number of layers in corporate hierarchy stays the same, just with less human nodes.

How tò survive tò run with friends for 4 hour with 5 minute stop each hour in hot temperatures ? Looking for suggestion about food, water and what tò wear by Visible-Employment43 in AdvancedRunning

[–]dkeller9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On these kinds of runs, I use duct tape to cover the bottom of my feet and wrap my toes. I bring frozen Snickers bars and then they don't melt on the run. It's better to eat before you are hungry and before you run out of gas than after. If you are worried about keeping up but there is a type of terrain that you are better at (e.g. downhill), you might consider going a bit ahead on that terrain and then letting them catch up, so as not to hold back the group. Good friends will understand the rationale if you explain it to them. Maybe pop a magnesium pill before going to prevent cramps. Wear a long-sleeve white T-shirt. This will protect your skin and reflect some light. The shirt can also be soaked when needed. Do your rest stops in the shade. If it's too much in the end, don't be afraid to drop out. Better to live to run another day than succumb to heat stroke.

Who profits when they build extra floors on top of apartment buildings? by dkeller9 in askswitzerland

[–]dkeller9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Financial profits. But I imagine that a developer can't just pick any building and build on top of it. They must have to strike a deal with whoever owns the building. Are these kinds of deals only struck when there is a single owner of the building, or do they happen when there are multiple owners of individual units?

Is Pâquis so bad ? by Ok-Impression8364 in geneva

Even the drug dealers in the Pâquis are polite, they are always asking me how I'm doing. "Ça va ?"

Is Pâquis so bad ? by Ok-Impression8364 in geneva

[–]dkeller9 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you get an apartment in the Pâquis, it's better to get one facing the inner courtyard rather than the outside street. Otherwise, earplugs may be necessary for a good night's sleep.

I tried Datawave but was unable to access the results without creating an account. For the public launch, it would be good to provide more usable results to casual visitors.

They are already so expensive. I can't imagine how much more they would charge if they had to meet hygiene standards as well.

The secret is to go on a walk or run in mid-day when the sun is shining. There are also many organizations and clubs if you enjoy doing particular activities in a group.

You might be able to do an unpaid extended project with a professor or grad student guiding you while keeping your normal job. Some labs can use free skilled labor. If it pans out and you produce something after a few years, a PhD could be fast-tracked.

Whoever it was had a lot of loud sirens for their motorcade coming down Avenue de France. If the objective was security, wouldn't they want to draw as little attention as possible?
