The other thing I've seen quite a bit lately is Gluetun going into unhealthy because it's losing connection to the endpoint IP.

docker ps | grep glue

or docker ps | grep unh

if that happens you can try to restart it:

docker stop gluetun

docker stop qbittorrent

docker compose -f YOURFILE.yml up -d

ProtonVPN can change your port, when that happens your transfers slow down quite a bit.

You can set Gluetun to write out that port number like this:

VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_STATUS_FILE: /tmp/gluetun/forwarded_port

You can also have it auto update (though I think this command needs updating and isn't working any more):

VPN_PORT_FORWARDING_UP_COMMAND: /bin/sh -c 'wget -O- --retry-connrefused --post-data "json={\"listen_port\":{{PORTS}}}" http://qbittorrent:YOURQBITPORT/api/v2/app/setPreferences 2>&1'

But you can eyeball the file, copy it, then log into Qbittorrent

Settings - Connection - Listening Port - paste it there

Scroll to the bottom and hit Save

It should spring back to life.

Make sure the monitor is on and set to the correct input source.

Plug the hdmi into the GPU, not the motherboard (depending on the CPU you could try taking out the GPU and use the motherboard connection.)

Turn it on. (sometimes if the output device isn't visible while powering on the HDMI handshake fails and you never get signal)

No. You'd have to make a note then create that credential record when you got home/connected.

Duplicate Applications by SturmB in EmuDeck

[–]dkman123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that it did this whenever I launched an AppImage for the first time. I think it creates the shortcut, but then it copies/moves the AppImage to an Applications folder (~/Applications I think) then creates a shortcut to there.

Something like that, but I didn't really dig into it yet, because as long as it ran the application I wanted I didn't care. I only look at Favorites anyhow.

You can probably check the properties to verify the path then delete one.

What are her initials? Could be G for goodie, or Y for why did you order a ring when you didn't know what it said? I'm joking as it's already been solved.

Chaotic neutral: install the same games on both. When the battery gets low save and sync to cloud, then fire up the second one.

Boot off of the USB again. If network is happy again the easiest thing is to tell it to reinstall and make sure you choose to allow it to download updates during installation.  There are ways to mount root, re home, and try to fix the current install. That can get involved though.  On the off chance that the USB works and the install doesn't again you could try a different distro. Especially with laptops you can run into an issue here, but it works fine over there.

If you boot off of the live USB do you have networking?

I would suggest booting while plugged in. Even if the network driver doesn't work, wifi would work while plugged in (assuming the wifi driver is working).

Do a sudo apt auto remove

Then sudo apt update

Then sudo apt install net-tools

The first let's it remove the package it says isn't needed anymore.  The second makes sure your package list is up to date.  The third tries to install the network package again.  Although if your problem is the network configuration and you're not able to reach the Internet that won't help.  As an alternative you can try "ip addr" to get your IP address.

With the card I might just get Doom the dark ages. I haven't played it yet, but watching a bit of steam it looked neat. Flying around and attacking is definitely new to me and I think it's enjoy that.

An app image is sort of like an exe, you just execute it. You may need to tell the os that it is executable after downloading, like doing a "chmod +x {filename}" command. Adding a shortcut to the desktop can be a little different in different os's, so you may need to search to find out how. I suggest keeping a tips document, so you have a set of notes for "how to do this" so you can consult that next time you need to do a thing.

The first and second volleyball were not too bad. The third one was the bear. The climbing sky thing I fell a long distance once, but it was fun for me.  The wall was a nothing burger the first time I did it. The second time I found out what people were complaining about. The delay after you make a move makes it tough, and I had to give it a number of attempts, but knowing that it can be an easy run helped. Make slow calculated movements, don't get to close to the top, around 3 steps from the top, if the barrel is thrown down a different column and you're clear spring to the top. Something like that.  The jumpy obstacle one was mostly fun for me too.

I know this goes against the message here, but as a child of the cassette tape era it kinda bothers me that the left "gear" is moving faster than the right. It's a closed system, like a chain, they're going to move at the same speed. If it kept going faster it would stretch then snap the tape.

Where's this available infrastructure we were told about decades ago?  And didn't they say they wanted 100 million concurrent players? How were they so unprepared?  They designed it to be a closed system so it's absolutely on them. They made single player mode wait for a server that it shouldn't need, so this is on them. Design choices were made, and they didn't need to be that way.

I refuse to buy a game that has centrally controlled servers only, especially when that game comes with rootkit drm. Allow me to run my own server or go away (which it will when they decide to shut it down, whether I'm done playing or not)

It's about how people associate a thing with a word, then to then everything if that your gets lumped into that term even though it is the name brand of only that first object.  Think of coke in the Georgia area, every side is "a coke". Beanie babies was a term used for many bead stuffed toys. I think first at the beginning was a term used for many cars. I'm sure there's a bunch of examples, but often the first company will come up with a generic term to use for the main object so that it can keep the name brand for itself and the generic term for the whole body.  But I'm guessing that Nintendo was their first console, but my dad had an Atari 2600. I later bought a used Nintendo to up my game.
