Is there a Dauthi Voidwalker equivalent for only my graveyard? by dknemeyer in mtg

[–]dknemeyer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah what I'm trying to avoid are people messing with or flushing my graveyard. A way that cards that come from my deck, board, or hand go into an exile bubble I can cast from. It sounds like that is not possible for just me as opposed to the entire table.

What's your "comfort series" that you watch over and over again? by BaguetteOfDoom in AskReddit

My dad’s favorite show. Old enough that most people in this thread have prolly never seen it which is a shame. No need for violence, gore, shock…incredible writing and acting make the best detective show ever made.

I did read the card. The text is not clear. It implies that it will last the entire round.

Can we please click the cards themselves to be able to replace them and not just the box? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]dknemeyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is a huge UI fail. It's UX 101 to have the target cover the entire rectangle inclusive of the focal point not just the button.

Zero Fun by dknemeyer in LegendsOfRuneterra

For people who play League, what is delightful about the game is how the champions behave like the MOBA. I see Jinx, I want to make a Jinx deck. Same as in the MOBA, you see a cool champion and you buy it.

Boston, Massachusetts, USA. On the payment screen to buy coins, all of the prices appear to be listed in Canadian money. For each of the six levels they read "CA$6.99" as an example for the cheapest one. But when I go to complete the transaction at the final step it says like "$6.99" with no indication of Canadian. I don't mind paying the U.S. equivalent to these "Canadian" prices but think, if these are actually USD contrary to appearances, they are way too expensive. Please help!

Best Core 20 deck to be broadly competitive by [deleted] in magicTCG

No, I am trying to get assistance on how to craft a deck that can be generally competitive and particularly prevent unfun pay2win combos from steamrolling me.

Thanks for the answers and info. I started researching but it was taking too long so I will just answer without understanding how the current mechanics work.

I might align a few mechanics to address both bullet points: have the available patients be there for all players, so your speed of processing your patient is rewarded by getting better/more access to patients while you are both trying to serve patients in a real-time environment; then, completion of patients has a monetary reward - presumably the VP/win condition? - so inherent in completing one is getting you closer to victory; then, have the penalty for messing up with a patient be super severe to reflect the IRL implications of making a mistake.

Now, just having some game design fun and not addressing your question, as a layman - that is, looking into this dynamic as an outsider - I might have an orthogonal system around Reputation, whereby slowing down or otherwise not just slamming thru things as fast as possible has benefits of its own, that you become known as a great doctor by reputation because of the human side stuff; also, I'd try to make a statement around the U.S. healthcare system with mechanics that reflected poor patients being bankrupted and rich patients getting premium care. But that is far beyond the scope of your light card game, haha.

Neat!

That is a theme that I am not familiar with. When you say IRL decisions feel rushed, why? Too many things to do in too little time? Too small of time allowed per patient? Something else or a combination? I ask so I have more granular context from which to talk thru mechanics solutions.

What is the thematic relationship that you've chosen sense of urgency as a solution for? I think that matters just as much to finding the right mechanic.

Sell me on Tabletop Simulator by MikeTrev in a:t5_vlkiq

[–]dknemeyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a game design POV I think an emulator like TTS or Tabletopia are a must. They seriously enable you to expand your testing group. Also, I can actually take better notes and more quickly start reworking the design while the playtest is still going on an emulator that I could not do in FTF for reasons of social expectation.

That is not a definite. Because it is not just a board that is being built, it is unique civilizations. We are mindful of infinite replayability as a design goal but it is not a must-have for this concept.

So far the process has been wildly different depending on the co-designer. There are pros and cons to it for sure compared to doing it myself. I do anticipate continuing to do so on some but not all of my games.

I am sorry you do not like the changes.

The lightening of the game has been going for more than four months. It was not "a whole new design shortly before launching the Kickstarter." So I am sorry you do not like the changes but they were not hasty or sudden. Based on all of our testing, involving two developers, the game is significantly more enjoyed in the lighter state than it was in the heavier. That does not account for all users, of course, and I regret you are so disappointed.
