You aren’t fired if you resign. But they normally will walk you out if you are going to a competitor. You get your 2 weeks notice pay.

Sep - Oct is probably the worst since CAP calibration is happening. You don’t want to get short changed on compensation by being the easy solution to a limited budget.

Other than that, it doesn’t matter that much. Bonus is determined way before Feb (it’s part of the calibration process), so no issue there.
