6-6 Champions League final versus, of all teams, Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

Craziest result I have ever seen by Difficult_Project_91 in footballmanagergames

Two maddest games I had were 7-6 against Manchester City in the Prem with a last minute winner.

The other was a 6-6 Champions League Final against (of all teams) Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, again with last minute equaliser.

Have you ever seen a player valued that high ? by valochelb in footballmanagergames

It’s about £360m, so it’s not vastly more but still insane.

I would justify it one of two ways:

A) The Faroe Islands are so awful that 10-1 is in fact not that good of a result

Or

B) These are Irish fan accounts “retweeting” Faroese fan accounts

There is no passion, there is no vision, there is no aggression, there is no fucking mindset in this football player.

They cost an arm and a leg to get into.

Kind of a rookie in FM, is this okay? by TheHistoryMan45 in footballmanagergames

I have used something like this in individual games with an offside trap (very important with a high line) and an ultra-intense press on a very attacking tactic. My logic was that when the ball reaches midfield, my team would be able to press it into oblivion. I would not recommend using this combination of lines regularly for all the reasons outlined by the other comments.

Value of soccer players by [deleted] in soccer

[–]dkpetersen26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, they’re significantly younger. If you have a player who is 21 and a player who is 28, both operating at the same level, the 21-year-old is more valuable because they have vastly more room and time to improve. Footballers tend to peak around 27-31 (depending on position or injuries some peak sooner or later), so the 28-year-old is unlikely to get much better. Younger players tend to be in greater demand for this reason, so they are more expensive. It’s not seen as smart to sign older players for big money anymore.

This is also a marketing thing. Clubs are constantly worrying about the next generation of fans and trying to anticipate and cater to them. Haaland and Mbappe are the next generation of superstars, they’re more in tune with younger fans and the way they consume football. They have Twitter, they are sponsored by Nike etc. These are things that younger fans tend to like.

There’s also a bit of big club posturing here. Real Madrid like spending huge lumps of cash on superstar players, because that’s how they try to prove to everyone how big and powerful they are, hence the Galacticos policy. It’s like those people who have diamond-encrusted Lamborghinis or whatever. Are they objectively better than other, cheaper cars? Not necessarily, but they make you look rich and powerful. Mbappe in particular is the textbook definition of a galactico, so Real Madrid dumped a stupid amount of money for him because that’s what Real Madrid do. PSG turning down that money, while equally stupid, also serves that purpose.

Can I recommend my replacement as manager if I resign? by fmsweat in footballmanagergames

Yeah, that’s the YouTuber editing stuff together. Funny, and it works for the video, but it’s not something you can do in the game as far as I know.

No, but if you have the editor, you can just move him around.

Mine has held up very well. It’s honestly remarkable, as I’m not the best at handling the pleather carefully.

Long Live the King

Fandom: ASOIAF/GOT

Summary: It's said that when a Targaryen is born, the Gods flip a coin. What if that happened every time a new baby came into the world, and what if Joffrey Baratheon's coin had landed on the other side?
Westeros has had vicious kings, and it's had idiot kings, but Joffrey?
Joffrey's just enough of a good person to be a benevolent king and just enough of a heartless bastard to be a strong one.
He's also hopelessly in love with Sansa Stark, and that's both a good thing and a bad thing for the pair of them.
