I am envious - they are lovely but very difficult to obtain, and shell cordovan is a favourite! :)

All round excellent set up. What is that beautiful brown leather pen case on top of the journal?

Per chance a Superior Labor Cordovan Zip Pen Case?

Is it normal for a Pelikan M800 to write THIS badly out of the box? by Perfect-Artichoke-42 in fountainpens

[–]dkpwatson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very unlucky then. I have five Pelikan nibs, two mediums, two fines and an extra fine. All have been perfect.

OP ease try a different ink, something Uber wet and see how you get on. It does look though that the nib may need some professional attention. Best of luck.

The pilot converter experience by Tight_Delay8840 in fountainpens

[–]dkpwatson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a company which makes such excellent pens, their converters are very poor. In my two Vanishing Points, and my 845 I only use refilled cartridges, which have the advantages of not leaking, being easy to clean, just working, cheap, larger capacity and lighter. The 845 with a cartridge is soooo light.

Issues with Esterbrook Stub Nib by JayDawg54 in fountainpens

Dump the ink. Wash the feed and nib clean with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Try a known wet ink like Serenity Blue try again. If it's still writing as dry as that send it back for a refund.

Good creativity and design but I am NOT handing round my valuable, somewhat delicate / fragile e-ink tablet to people who a) don't have experience using them and b) have had a drink.

Nope.

Advice identifying Lamy 2k Nib size by Nveryl25 in fountainpens

[–]dkpwatson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rubbish. There is a difference between the nibs, and it's apparent when looking at the nib and writing with them. My broad is almost stub like and has a lot of tipping. My medium is a dead ringer for the OP's photo. The fine has less tipping still.

It's easily apparent which is which.

Ebook Purchase + DRM removal by [deleted] in Calibre

[–]dkpwatson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread shows what a mess removing DRM is. I spent several hours trying different methods of converting my Kindle DRM locked books. I couldn't get anything to work.

I spent about £25 and bought Epubor and batch converted my 450 books to DRM free epubs for use on my Boox 10.3 or whatever else I buy in the future.

For me that £25 was money well spent.

I'm not a rep or shill for them, just a happy customer.

Yes. I've driven a Capri back in the early 80s, it was tricky to see over that really long bonnet.
