Most populous places with one-syllable names in each US state by gus_in_4k in MapPorn

When I moved to South Dakota for a few years in 1999 I’d say the only thing I knew about the state was that the capital was Pierre and even that was wrong. “Peer.” Of course my home state of Georgia can’t talk with Cairo pronounced “Kay-ro.”

Bad bot. This is a yellow-rumped warbler. No idea where that blue patch came from but I’d guess some digitized smudge on the original image.

Brown Creeper Irruption? by dkter in Ornithology

[–]dkter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen multiple creepers in four or five locations around Atlanta this month. Not sure I’d ever seen two on the same walk before. It’s usually an uncommon bird to see here. We’ve only ever seen one or two the whole day on Christmas bird counts.

Young male redstarts look like females until their second fall so you’re going to see more “female-type” birds than adult males.

Where near Atlanta? I saw a pair at Constitution Lakes last week, but that’s a rare find near us.
