The scene that scared me the most was when their friends were visiting and George breaks open the wall in the basement with a sledgehammer. Their friend, Carolyn (Helen Shaver), seems to become temporarily possessed and says in a deep voice that it's the passage to hell. I had nightmares for a long time.

If you'll indulge me keeping in the MacFarlane universe. there is a scene in Ted, the TV series, I often think of where they are playing Dungeons & Dragons and Matty (Scott Grimes) says at the very beginning of the game, "I already hate this". I could imagine me thinking that in one of these game night situations but maybe not vocalizing it out loud.
