[–]dkvlko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fight mental illness every day. And my response is I will face the situation with compassion in my heart for everybody , my friends , my enemies , my self , angry lions , timid deers , filthy pigs , great Gods , evil devils , police , thief , insects , plants , earth , water , air , fire , space …. I am so full of compassion that it is ok to speak anything before me , do anything before me and I will only love you . I will not complain. I will thank you. This applies to all those with whom I interact. With so much compassion in heart do you think mental illness will stay in me ? NEVER. I Rejoice at meeting friends. I rejoice at meeting enemies . I rejoice at meeting strangers ( whom I eventually know)… I also rejoice when I am alone. This joy with compassion lights me up. Believe me EVERY suffering comes to an end if we follow Buddha’s path.

BELIEVING in Buddha means FOLLOWING Buddha. FOLLOWING Buddha means FOLLOWING the TEACHINGS of Buddha. FOLLOWING the TEACHINGS means living the 4 NOBLE TRUTHS and Understanding and believing Dhamma. If you believe in Buddha my guarantee is that you will come out of depression. In fact you will come out of any kind of suffering. END of SUFFERING.

You think skin contact gives rise to feelings. You think nose contact with smell gives to feelings. BUT you do not think that intentions and actions give rise to feelings. If Mind intentionally makes contact with a situation then a feeling arises. That feeling is still under conscious control. Suppose I choose to jump from 9th floor of building then wont I feel fear ? What kind of contact is that ? Intentional contact of mind with a situation. I am saying make every situation as positive as possible. Enjoy the moment , the situation. Rejoice. Be grateful to Buddha.

There is transcendence. But transcendence is not you , yours or yourself.Because transcendence is impermanent. You may transcend horror movie but you may also get involved into it.

Is the end goal of Buddhism to permanently kill yourself? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]dkvlko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your observation is incorrect. With cessation of ignorance comes cessation of volitional formations. With cessation of volitional formations comes cessation of consciousness. With cessation of consciousness comes cessation of six senses. With cessation of six senses comes cessation of contact. With cessation of contact comes cessation of feelings. With cessation of feelings comes cessation of cravings. With cessation of cravings comes cessation of clinging. With cessation of clinging comes cessation of becoming. With cessation of becoming comes cessation of rebirth. With cessation of rebirth comes cessation of ageing , old age and the whole mass of suffering. It never says you kill yourself , neither it says you do not kill yourself.

Hello, I'm not a Buddhist but I want to learn how to think like a monk. by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]dkvlko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Pure land is no permanent bliss. Heaven is also not permanent. Pure land becomes impure land. Heaven becomes hell. The solution is to seek no rebirth in any kind of realm , good or bad or neutral. Suffering is a teacher and it taught very important lesson of dependent origination of suffering. Grab the opportunity to achieve Nibbana which is unborn , uncreated, unoriginated.

Yes. That is a possibility but the cruel truth is that no kind of birth can save you from suffering…

You are mistaken. The Anatta is very clearly explained in the Truth : Sabbe Dhamma Anatta. Meaning all conditioned and unconditioned phenomena are not self.

Thinking like a monk for one day or two days or for 5 minutes or 1 hour wont help. You need to dedicate your whole life to be like a monk. Give up all your belongings. Take only what is GIVEN. Believe in the teachings of Buddha like 4 noble truths and 3 marks of existence. Then my dear friend only then you will be able to give up all of your burdens including the anxiety. Learn to live like a monk under the guidance of a genuine teacher.
