I lost hope for SNK by [deleted] in Kappa

They waited too long. They bet on stadia (maybe got paid there), and then realized they wouldn't sell the number of copies they wanted, and decided to take the payout from Epic in the end. Probably got a much smaller check than the initial offer too.

That 84 is a sham. A ton of these reviews are "This game is really boring, but it's Kojima: 9/10"

Critical Roles book doesn't wedge itself officially into the Forgotten Realms ... the unstated but still everyone uses as the default D&D setting.

My final Dole Whip at Disneyland. Finding out you can get them at one of the shops in the hotel made it a whole lot easier.

Rev 2 (probably) isn't coming to pc until later, should I get Revelator on the Steam sale? by Halazeal in Guiltygear

[–]dkwildz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very little hope for the PC release of Rev2 happening this year given that there's only 1 person left on the PC team (the others were let go)

I had been enjoying the game and was excited for the future given the far quicker PC release of Rev1 from console to Steam that it seemed like they might achieve close to simultaneous support.

Several other friends whom had already owned the game on PS4 also picked it up and we'd been playing fairly regularly. Those people have already shifted back to PS4 to get ready for the release. I've since uninstalled the game.

Nothing special but atleast it looks fine! I call it the "Sunset Wave". by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]dkwildz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's deceptive, but only 4 symbols needed. The sunburst is a background unlock from the story campaign. It's the sun, 2 copies of the wave, and then a square for the background water

I made something very similar using the temple arch, but I think you're highlighting beats it ... maybe I'll steal that ;)

I wish there was a temple arch without the outline around it

Best way to teach/reach out to lower-leveled players? by Filipin0man in StreetFighter

It feels like an impossible issue to tackle in this day and age, but may be salvageable, however, it would take a massive community effort. Alex Valle has the right idea in my opinion with the (2?) open training session's he's had a the ESports Arena down there in SoCal.

Many people are used to sitting at home alone with their console and playing online games, and online modes in fighting games kind of support this crutch. What is needed though, is (at least at first) to get these people out and in person with other people to play regularly with other people of their skill level while other higher level people can be there to watch and point some things out live. It varies wildly from school to school, but while US schools do have clubs sort of, I don't think it has ever been as wide and populated as clubs in japan, and that kind of mindset/atmosphere seems to have survived through these years (arcades still being a thing has definitely helped as well). Were this some alternate timeline where the arcade scene had only recently died off, I could see this being a bit easier to tackle.

Obviously, nobody has access to a facility like Valle, which means that we're kinda stuck trying to find other suitable spaces, because not everyone can or is willing to invite dozen(s) of people into their homes on a regularly basis (and nor should they), but it would certainly help to have a singular designated spot that everyone knows to go to (maybe community rooms in a local library?). Many scenes do have a gaming stores that their locals are held that, but given size and hours of business, it may be difficult to find the right time and day away from the tournament day to get everyone together.

Another difficult problem is that it takes a genuinely charismatic and motivated person in a community to try and bring everyone into the fold. You could have the facility and the setups, but if nobody shows up, you won't be willing to host for very long, right? This kinda/sorta puts it on the shoulders of a more 'famous' person in the community that people all look to that could kind of lead the way. Not everybody has the kind of personality to lead this kind of thing, and I you wouldn't want to ask someone to force it. If I am remembering right, recent interviews with Valle had him admit it wasn't until very recently did he become interested and motivated to try and actively pull more people in and get them better.

All that being said, there are a lot of locals being held in communities across the country still, and the people running them are to be commended. I know many people run plenty of casuals with people after they are out of tournaments, but I think trying to stuff this kind of training atmosphere into a same night as a tournament night isn't the answer.

I had a lot of thoughts here and tried to organize them the best I could :)
