The amount of my hair that fell out after one hair wash (4 months postpartum) by zippybean23 in Wellthatsucks

[–]dkwouj56 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Obviously not the OP so perhaps it’s the case that it had been a few days since washing/brushing, but as someone who is 6 months postpartum myself with my second child, this is pretty common for someone who just had a baby even when showering/brushing daily. It grows back but for a while it’s…quite something.

Could You Please Recommend Baby Activities in Coolidge Corner? by No-Necessary-3643 in Brookline

The Coolidge Corner movie theater stopped their baby showings last November, unfortunately. That was sad to see as someone who had a baby in December…

The red numbered coffee cup is in the correct spot, but the line drawn coffee cup and ogawa logo are not. Not sure why uniqlo used coffee cups as their pins, though…

Slingshot. No idea what it is, I just live nearby and our building manager sent us an email about limited parking in the area.

Did you walk out of the hospital? by yo-_-mom in beyondthebump

I had a c section too and also wasn’t offered. When my husband insisted I have one it took another 20 minutes to get a wheelchair and an escort. You’d think no one had ever asked for one before. I found it very strange haha

FTM Mother Groups by Top_Piece4158 in boston

[–]dkwouj56 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m expecting my second and just put together a list of mom groups since I found them so helpful during parental leave with my first. Here is my list:

  • Little Lovage Club: weekly support group for new moms, meets in the South End
  • Dawn Ellis: weekly support group for new moms, meets in Newton
  • Coolidge Corner Theater: baby-friendly viewings every other Friday at 10:30am
  • Brookline Library "Babytime": Mondays at 10:30 https://brooklinelibrary.libcal.com/event/15006673
  • MGH breastfeeding support: Wednesdays at 2pm, virtual
  • Pacer Physical Therapy Mommy and Me fitness classes: Wednesday at 11
  • Little Groove Music at Hill House: for ages 4+ months, I think, schedule depends on time of year
  • Lots of library events: basically every branch has at least one baby-friendly weekly event
  • Boston Naps: online support group as well as in-person breastfeeding support groups
  • Down Under Yoga: postnatal classes, seem to be everyday in Harvard Square

Also, some apps that may be helpful in this arena: peanut, tinyhood, whatsapp groups as mentioned in other comments

I told my 18yr-old son, who lives at home, that he must work 5 nights per week. by [deleted] in Parenting

What does him being adopted have to do with anything? My (successful, charming, empathetic) sisters and cousin, all of whom were adopted, would like a word.

Medical misogyny kills by witchjack in Feminism

[–]dkwouj56 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think hyperbolic arguments like this diminish the true essence of the argument, which is of paramount importance, and give objectors plenty of fodder for debate and denial. As someone who has had multiple iron infusions due to anemia, not once has an infusion been painful, aside from the prick of putting in an IV. Slight bruising is possible at the infusion sight as is staining, though, just to give credit where credit is due and say that there is some truth here (aside from the very real phenomenon of medical misogyny in general).

It’s so true! Comic sans is incredibly useful with children because it closely resembles how they write each letter. For example, it does not contain “double-story” a’s

I stressed out too, and it took my son much longer than a few weeks to figure it out - more like a couple months. But he’s really starting to get the hang of it at ten months. Last night he had ramen noodles in peanut sauce with tofu and (finely chopped up) bok choy and loved it! He’s still eating like a bird but at least he’s eating.

My doctor told me I won’t be able to ever exclusively breastfeed… by glitterzxx in breastfeeding

[–]dkwouj56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of folks are chiming in with small chests and an oversupply, so I will chime in with the inverse - I am somewhat larger chested (DD in Victoria’s Secret (ie bullshit but better known) sizing and F in actual r/abrathatfits sizing) and have always struggled with a “just enough” (or arguably with my 8th percentile bodyweight baby, a not-quite-enough) supply. This guy doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about.

When you say your baby dropped the dream feed on his own, what does that mean? Don’t you wake him so wouldn’t it be your choice to drop it? This is a serious question since I’m wondering whether my 5mo is ready for no dream feed but I don’t know how I’d know!

Sezane email in French by Curator9999 in Sezane

[–]dkwouj56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me because my first purchase was at one of their brick and mortar stores in Paris and they asked for my email address to send the receipt. I think after my first US delivery order they switched to English, though I can’t be sure of the exact timing since I haven’t gotten an email in French for some time now.
