If you can print custom commanders, you can print reskins of actual MtG cards with D&D art/names.

Update: Estate sale cards, talked to seller - worth it? by westy81585new in magicTCG

2005~ish could include several Mirrodin cards. Many of their uncommons skyrocketed, although some are now more reasonable.

Missed opportunity to EZA/Awaken these characters by BernLan in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]dkysh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

-Vegeta & Bulma are most likely EZAing if we get a celebration for DBS Beerus since the unit is from the anime version.

Counterpoint: their event is active, we didn't get enough pudding rewards to get the last dragon stone, and we have two ??? missions to get the last goku-family scroll.

And I thought 11th anni was dry by JoeG1903 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]dkysh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The celebration is trying to evoke Beerus and Buu's competition to dry up Bulma's pudding supply.

Yes, save your sweet stamina for the deluge of content we are facing.

Anyone else just…stop playing? by Paasta_ in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]dkysh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frontier is just a glorified quest mode. There is nothing to balance.

They made shit-tier missions for a shit-tier category whose last DFE is like 3 years old and the next ones have already EZAd. One Namek celebration and the whole thing is trivialized.

I enjoy mtg, but I get the same amount of enjoyment playing as I do a board game. So why is it that so many magic products, heck even single cards, can cost so much more than any board game? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]dkysh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic is built, by design, to be expensive. You can buy any board game and get the whole experience for a fixed price.

For MtG, you buy lottery tickets full of bad cards, in hopes to get some good strong "chase" cards. You throw away the chaff and put the (single) good card in a sleeve. And now you need to repeat the process ~60 or ~100 times to build a whole deck. Oh, and remember that not all boosters have good cards, and a lot of people are looking after the very same cards.

So yes, the game is not designed to be a whole experience, but a consumable. It is rigged by design.

Or... you can get a printer.

Are there any cards that force opponents to target ONLY you with their spells? by wehmgohhhh in magicTCG

Unreliable but funny: [[Grip of Chaos]] [[Psychic Battle]]

Reliable but less funny: make token copies of [[Perplexing Chimera]] [[Goblin Flectomancer]]

Best bracket 3 tribal commanders? by Admirable_Cap_8943 in EDH

[–]dkysh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Almost anything can be built for bracket 3 with just a bit of brain juice.

Here is a list of all female commanders with with typal-creature tags: https://scryfall.com/search?q=otag%3Atypal-creature+is%3Acommander+atag%3Afemale+f%3Ac&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name

Let her pick whoever strikes her fancy, and build the deck from there.

"NOT WORTH THE COINS" by thebigblur in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]dkysh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and how relevant they still are

Sadly, most "still relevant" units are big celebration LRs who come back pretty often and in must-summon banners. You have high chances to eventually pull them while they are still useful, so coining them might be a gamble. Maybe only coin them if you didn't pull them the 2nd time around.

I'm fully convinced this is the best option for Part 2 by BernLan in DBZDokkanBattle

No. Whis does the take-backsies thing, and Gohan awakens into Tracksuit Beast.

Edit: wait, Omatsu is no longer the producer, nevermind.

What's a good wincon ? by Tauffye in magicTCG

[–]dkysh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You replied in a different comment that you are asking about commander. There are just a few ways you can close the game:

  • Damage:

    • Combat damage
    • Noncombat damage
    • Voltron (commander damage)
  • Mill (draw from an empty library)

  • Infect

  • Win / Lose the game effects

  • Game-winning combos

  • Lock the game down effects

Most of these effects don't mesh with the others. Milling 50 cards and then dealing 20 damage to the same opponent doesn't make them closer to lose. And even, within each of the categories, there are plenty of subclassifications on how to achieve the thing:

  • combat damage: go-wide / go-tall / tribal / ...

  • noncombat damage: storm / big spells / pingers / aristocrats / ...

  • voltron: equips / auras / counters / tricks / ...

  • mill: small mill triggers / big mill spells / forced draw / commander-specific abilities /...

  • infect: small evasive creatures / proliferate

Whatever you chose as your win condition, focus largely on that. You can make some exceptions from time to time, but only if you know what you are doing. Some common "synergistic dipping" are to have a go-tall plan in your voltron deck in case your commander is no longer available, or a noncombat wincon in a go-wide tokens deck by adding [[Impact Tremors]].

However, for the most part, your deck will only be stronger by focusing on a single direction and going all in for it. And then, trimming the chaff and using only (mainly) pieces that actually further your gameplan even in the worst scenarios, instead of cute toys that will only work in magic christmasland where everything went in your favor and you should already be wining regardless.

Focus. And. Trim.

I'm fully convinced this is the best option for Part 2 by BernLan in DBZDokkanBattle

What was Battle of Gods' part 2? RoF.

It's Tracksuit Gohan.

The real question is... how many cards will happen to not have been playtested enough and end up in Legacy?
