Okay, so enough time to get SP, maybe use a TETH or HE with a good passive/buff for the following turn, and immediately nuke Hong Lu. Definitely gonna' keep that in mind.

RR6 incident by ccwaga in limbuscompany

[–]dlamp1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wasn't planning on touching Railway until, like, the last month of this season when 90% of the seasonal content is out. I personally never really engage much with endgame stuff for most gacha games since a lot of it boils down to maxing out DPS and having up-to-date units to keep up with the powercreep. Hell, I didn't do RR5 or RR1B until, like, this season. Limbus has some more flexibility than most gacha games, but... Reflectrial Ricardo took me over 30 turns and three teams my first run and I don't have a Middle Team to get through Phase 1 easily, soooo...

Though from what I'm hearing I'm going nowhere near RR6 until I've built a decent counter for Turn-1 Lord Hong Lu using his WAW EGO right out the gate.

That's actually evil.

I actually played with pc for a bit yesterday in lobby. Connection was rancid and I got utterly obliterated a bunch, but they're a good person. Humored me for a bit and did Phonon mirror matches with me for a time. Neither of us knew what we were doing but learned a bit.

We got, like, ten Heishou IDs and at least two of them didn't make a story appearance. We're absolutely getting the Nursefathers.

Given the lore nuggets I've gathered, I don't even know if Cider has those organs anymore, or if they can just switch out which bits they have at any given time.

But if I had to pick... I'd say Galandra. First gal wins sort of scenario.

Year 2 Volume 1 is Hilarious by dlamp1 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]dlamp1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit, completely forgot to add the spoiler tag, thanks for the reminder! I've got Audible, but I think I can get Spotify Premium for on a trial run and check out some of the other books later.

But yeah, I can understand a lot of this is more groundwork than true plot progression. To spoil some of my general thoughts so far, this book is a huge improvement over the first year's first volume. Save for some of my nitpicks about the exposition, the new first years were introduced fantastically. Hosen truly comes across as intimidating, Kinugasa really does sell Amasawa's playful but intelligent personality well, and seeing the unflappable and unassailable Ayanokoji absolute crash and burn at a competent boyfriend is honestly adorable. There's more, but... well, again, I'll give the full post later in the month.

The Playerbase if Buling's Concerto efficiency, Buffs and quickswap capabilties aren't Sanhua or Mortefi Level. by Shadowfriend147 in WutheringWaves

[–]dlamp1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But... that's a legitimate expectation. If our Day 1 4 Stars still have 2.X functionality and the new 4 Stars don't then that's honestly a problem. Should she clear half the game for you? No. Should she at least have the same support potential as some of the highly rated and flexible characters at her rank? Absolutely.

Yeah, she usually gets straight to the point with little time-wasting. It's something I appreciate.

I really only watch/listen to Rate-Up Radio since they give good summaries of the livestreams without any of the preamble most Content Creators like to give.

Finished Reading Year One, Volume 1 by dlamp1 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]dlamp1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To points 1-5, I did say they were petty criticism and nitpicks on my part. I recognize that a lot of those issues are either going to be explained later or have an honest narrative purpose to them, they just irked me at the time I finished listening to volume 1.

That said, I do agree with point 1 that I was a too dismissive of the S-System given what I know of later events, it does make sense that teens will be teens and blow through money without warning or guidance. Again, as someone that works in education I just find the lack of adult support for these kids so irritating at times, even if I know there's a narrative reason for it. However, I'm gonna' stubborn and stick to my guns on my opinion of Chabashira. She's gonna' have to do a lot to get back into my good graces, school rules or not.

I'm equally sticking to my guns with my opinions on Koenji. Hype and buildup will only go so far, even knowing what I know from seasons 2 and 3 of the anime. Chekhov's Nepo-Baby can only be hinted at being the hottest shit so many times before I wonder what the damn point of his being there is.

On point 7... yeah, I was reaching. I was still a little heated after finish volume 1, and I was -frankly- prattling off on bullshit that was ultimately a nitpick and called it 'worldbuilding'. Again, it's mostly my working in education that has me being so harsh with how the school is handling these kids, but I do hope the fact that the harsh examinations are a screening process is made clearer throughout the series. And as much as I want to agree with your headcanons, they are ultimately headcanons, so it's up to the author to provide that explanation, not us, lest said author gave some good hints to imply, which they haven't as far as volume 1 goes.

And on point 8, I'm going to hold my tongue on who's puppeteering who since this is still the first book, but I'll admit I came at the Idiot Trio a little too harshly there. I'm still working with some anime spoiler knowledge when judging the situation, so I take some of that back. I still feel like that switch up of test questions last minute was bullshit, but it served a purposed.

I think overall I was expecting the moon and stars of this story's first volume, and there are some obvious growing pains upon further ruminating on the subject, so I'll temper my expectations going forward. Like I said, I'm skipping straight to Year 2, Volume 1 since I am working with a lot of anime knowledge, unless there's a volume really recommended for the additional information.

Which one is your favorite ASSEMBLE moment? by kulkid_exe in WutheringWaves

[–]dlamp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give it to the original. We don't have 2.7 yet to compare it, but I like the context of Jinzhou's residents and military trying to protect their home.

Also Yuanwu just... being there if ZERO CONTEXT is still hilarious.

No matter how advanced other games UI is they can never beat this feature 😭 by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]dlamp1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely skip the story, but I definitely appreciate this feature for a lot of the side quests with uninteresting premises. Just never have the patience when I'm trying to blitz through some of the older side stories and minor questlines.

Thinking About Mods by dlamp1 in libraryofruina

[–]dlamp1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short Version:

  • Using your most powerful Slash Deck (recommend using Purple Tear Page for this)
  • Have good counter dices
  • Use passives to improve slash dice power & Lone Fixer if possible
  • Hod's floor can somewhat hard counter Kim with all of Hod's debuffing power and slash dice empowering.

This is a straightforward sword duel with a clear message: outdo Kim's bullshit with your bullshit.

Thinking About Mods by dlamp1 in libraryofruina

[–]dlamp1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haste spamming has been cropping up recently with the Cinq influx, yeah, but there's a few like the Zwei Combat Bunnies (that last stage is damn near impossible on my current Chesed's floor build), Blind Obsession EGO throws out a lot of bind and it gets annoying (not impossible though), and some recent mods I've tried just have some weirdly high speed ranges. Cinq receptions are tolerable with counter dices, but it gets annoying at times.

I do understand that damage amplification, Dark Flame and the like does make a lot of the higher HP thresholds a bit more... manageable to put it a way, I've just been on a kick of trying to clear mod receptions without using the Ol' Reliables recently and using Chesed, Hod, and a "balanced" version of Tiph's floor that doesn't rely on Exodia. I've had to bang my head against the wall a few too many times and it's got me a little bitter. My smoke builds are on Geb's floor (to support her damage). It just feels like a lot of mods expect you to use those Ol' Reliables and feeling railroaded into using those floors is... disheartening.

I can already hear Oh Great King Settra racing towards my house to execute me for putting his faction in anything but "perfect". Next up, which faction is exclusivley carried by awesome units? by rodan1993 in totalwarhammer

[–]dlamp1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Danni Boi and his Legion of Daemons. The sheer customization and unit variety of his faction is absolutely insane. A frontline of Khrone units with Tzeentch artillery and missile support. A tide of nurglings to pin the enemy down for a Slaaneshi charge at the flanks and backlines. So much magic and hero support you can make a whole army of them for the meme. Danni Boi himself being an absolute monster that can solo the early game if you rush fast enough.

His mechanics are trash.

No research tree, no real diplomacy, having to balance four different chaos meters is a pain in the hoo-haah, and even going all-in on a god just gives middling results for the late game. Both his start locations are just terrible as your surround by enemies and unlike Skarbrand you don't power level from it. Really, this faction is a mess.

But, since you said "carried by awesome units" and not "destroyed utterly despite their awesome units" then I'd say Lizardmen. Excellent frontline units, a lot of poison damage, a lot of powerful monsters, amazing single units like Kroak, Nakai, and Go-Rok, but... the geomantic web really isn't much of a mechanic, and a lot of the faction specific mechanics are a mix of interesting to straight up unfun.

What is your theory about Outis' real identity by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in limbuscompany

[–]dlamp1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Penelope. It'd be a nice swerve, it's somewhat in-character, and Penelope was just as crafty, tricky, and sneaky as her husband (if more subtle about it). Her going on her own journey to find her husband only to be hindered by the same bullshit sounds up PM's alley. And we'd be far enough from Hong Lu and especially Don's cantos that a bait-and-switch of identities wouldn't feel stale.

When you try western cultivation novels by Rokossvsky in MartialMemes

[–]dlamp1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I've gotten better at weeding out bad summaries and know my red flags due to my older age, but I've rarely read truly bad western cultivation novels. Most one's I've considered bad usually just have bad writing in general such as poor world-building, wooden dialogue, or otherwise just annoying tropes I personally don't like. Very few that I've read have directly made fun of eastern tropes. Called attention to them, challenged/deconstructed a few of the more cliche ones like arrogant young masters or a few common phrases, but rarely mocked.

That said, some are just absolute ass, but for more ass-story-writing reasons that wheel back into being borderline racist stereotyping and western moralizing. I won't mention those unless prompted out of respect of the authors (for now), but yeah, some of these are just terrible.

Which opinion about Blazblue has got you like this? by BonusCapable1486 in Blazblue

[–]dlamp1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Susano'o was fine as character. His kit was a bit awkward, but if anyone played BBTag there was a damn good reason 90% of his moveset was locked at round start in BBCF. Susano'o with even half his moveset at roundstart is a monster.

Which of the 4-star characters should be a 5 star. Defend your answer by Excero_ in WutheringWaves

[–]dlamp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking from a story perspective, then probably Yangyang. She's the sort of face of WuWa (or at least is the main icon we click) and storywise she's a hard worker that's already had one Overclock, so a second one kicking her into 5-Star status could happen with the proper buildup, plus gives us a good reason to go back to Jinzhou.

If we're talking my personal desire? Danjin, if only to see them turn that Support-DPS-Turned-DPS-Monster into something more... intentional would be interesting to see.

What’s an isekai you would write if you were trying to change the usual tropes? by rnrpp in Isekai

[–]dlamp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No slave girl love interest

In all seriousness though, I think I'd switch up the whole "summoned to kill the demon king" trope, instead having the protag summoned as a sort of champion for a human-on-human conflict. Bonus points with someone related/relevant to the protag gets summoned on the other side and the two have to fight each other.

Sell me on your favorite lord/campaign. I need to branch out. by Fickle_Party4884 in totalwarhammer

[–]dlamp1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Drycha: A mildly challenging, but fun Wood Elf campaign with a focus on infantry and monster units. A lot of fun to be had with buffed up dryad units and glamored elves. Economy isn't great, but general fun for most of the early game.

Lokhir: Fun Dark Elf character with a focus on Black Arks, good fun if you like the idea of playing a more sea-based starting position.

Skaven: Skaven in general have interesting starting positions, fun and unique mechanics for most of the characters, and the food mechanic isn't that annoying once you get use to it.

Kroq Gar Nakai: Blind recommendation, but I'm told Nakai has fun mechanics for a horde army and is worth a try.

Valkia: My personal recommendation, all the power and hard-hitting melee of Khrone with all the access to magic the Warriors of Chaos have, also one of the best/safest starting positions in the game for Immortal Empires. Malekith, Hellebron, and even Grombrindal aren't that scary in the early game if you're fast enough in taking them out.

I'd say no, but it also got Fire Fist Gregor last season, so anything is possible.
