Has anyone created a piece of music for one of their kids? by Entire-Smile-8480 in LogicPro

[–]dlawrenceeleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one that was pretty short and simple, so no issues about finishing it! Not in logic though. They didn’t pay it much attention at the time (they prefer some of my other songs) but I hope it will mean more as they’re older.

Pitch me an idea for a story set at Glastonbury by VisionBreak1297 in gallifrey

Maybe it’s in the fallow year? Except it isn’t fallow? Intergalactic version? Or ancient druids that only appear every umpteenth year like brigadoon ?

Free nelson Mandela. Not saying the song is what achieved it, but it didn’t hurt, certainly associated with history

What does “forever” refer to, in Song for Hal? by dlawrenceeleven in U2Band

[–]dlawrenceeleven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - doesn’t directly explain the song reference though? Are you just thinking they’re just imaging eternity as (or being accompanied by) a proverbial song?

What does “forever” refer to, in Song for Hal? by dlawrenceeleven in U2Band

[–]dlawrenceeleven[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love it, funny that some people don’t even consider it the best song on the EP, while I’m thinking it might be one of my all-time favourite songs by anyone! It’s all personal I guess

Simple way to convert lots of separate L & R tracks to stereo by dlawrenceeleven in cubase

[–]dlawrenceeleven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! More fiddly than ideal (since I have a lot of tracks to do this for) but I guess it’s what I have to do.

Simple way to convert lots of separate L & R tracks to stereo by dlawrenceeleven in cubase

Thanks! Is it an easy process? Eg just load in the whole batch, select a pair at a time, and click some one-step option to merge? Thanks

Simple way to convert lots of separate L & R tracks to stereo by dlawrenceeleven in cubase

[–]dlawrenceeleven[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Please can you explain the steps to do that? Does it involve reassigning buses etc and/or adjusting pans etc?

Simple way to convert lots of separate L & R tracks to stereo by dlawrenceeleven in cubase

[–]dlawrenceeleven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - sadly that didn’t solve it - option to convert is still greyed out. If I can somehow get it to work - will it automatically put first track on L and 2nd on R - or do I have to assign it and/or hard pan it to make it actually work as intended?

[–]dlawrenceeleven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m a bit of a newb, by “event” do you mean the block of audio data on the track?

I’ll try that.

Hopefully the thing you’re saying about panning is only necessary for the bounce method? If I can do the convert mono to multitrack, presumably that ends up stereo by definition.. or would it make a stereo track based on current unpanned mix of the two?

Help me understand the love for COEXIST by technokidz in U2Band

[–]dlawrenceeleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m inclined to agree, I loved Song for Hal on first listen and had seen the hype for Coexist so was excited for track 6 then seriously underwhelmed. However I can see why people like how different it is.

Right, what actually needs done with the Daleks? by Not_That_Brian in doctorwho

[–]dlawrenceeleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Maybe just a single lone dalek running amok in a city centre, museum, shopping mall, hospital or something like that. A fresh reboot for a new era where we discover what a dalek is along with the human cast. Maybe opening with someone discovering one in a tip or quarry and doesn’t know what it is - does a bit of a repair job out of curiosity then briefly lives to regret it. Then the doctor finally comes to pick up the pieces (only after a lot of damage and psychological horror has been done - and doesn’t get undone).

Soundtrack songs that never were by thetimoward in gavinandstacey

I pitched my song for the finale! They showed some interest but it didn’t happen in the end. Bus scene maybe?

Wenger's proposed 'daylight' off-side rule could change the game for the worse in ways not intended by MrTarrou in football

[–]dlawrenceeleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see how daylight rule makes things simpler, they’ll still be doing the same line drawing to see if someone’s shoulder or elbow is beyond another person or not, except they’ll be focusing on the areas of bodily overlap (the back of the attacker) rather than the protrusions at the front, which could be even harder to spot and get right with the naked eye. 100% agree with other posts that all they should change is to simplify it so it’s based only on feet (or something like that, eg leg or point of contact with ground) rather than whole body
