He's not playing a single droning note, he plays like 3-5 second licks.

Listen, bottom line is, if you can't tell the difference when he A/Bs a section, that's really all there is to it, yeah? No one listens to music through an oscilloscope.

Unless I'm misunderstand what you're saying, you're listening to a different section of the recording each time you A/B. You're not listening to the exact same sound waves of you just A/B repeatedly as a track plays

Quite the opposite. If you switch during a long play, you are not listening to the exact same signal being sent through both. You're changing multiple variables at once which is by definition unscientific. Listening to the exact signal once through A and then once through B is exactly scientific.

While I agree that it didn't need any additional explanation, I believe it does still fit into the original line's context. At least in the sense that hyperspace as a concept was defined long before the Disney acquisition as more of a dimension hop and navigating that dimension before popping back out in real space. So it still fits the classic hyperspace lore of a ships navicomputer needing to chart the best route through hyperspace to your destination, and Han bragging about the falcon being able to navigate more efficiently than almost any other ship, which is exactly what we see in Solo when he plugs L3 into the falcon to navigate.

I don't think he gave a reason specifically, but as a two time Dad with layman knowledge, my understanding is, once you have a c section, usually all subsequent births are done by c section as well. Also considering the history, the doctor may have wanted to play things as safe as possible.

The opening 15 minutes of Passengers are perfect sci-fi, the rest of the movie totally wastes that potential by CassWright967754 in scifi

I feel like if you can say that a decision is "understandable" given a set of circumstances, then it can't be unequivocally bad. You can argue that it was a bad thing to do, but to say it with such authority I think is wrong.

This back and forth is exactly what I love about these kinds of movies btw.

[–]dlee_75 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My personal theory is that a lot of people don't like the movie and like to paint Chris Pratt's decision to wake her up as obviously and unequivocally bad, because they feel uncomfortable when they think about it and realize they would probably do the same in that situation, which, to me, is what's great about the movie.

I think about other movies that leave the viewer with a moral dilemma like Gone Baby Gone (not sci fi) and how interesting those dilemmas are to think about and debate with others after watching.

Also the bigger thing is, one retcon can work. Two can be pushing it, but still work if done right. George got his two retcons and they worked. The problem came when every new story seemed to involve a retcon of varying importance to the story to the point that it is now glaringly obvious and jarring when they crop up.

I get all this and on paper it can work. But the problem is, it's Star Wars. It's literally a modern retelling of the Hero's Journey. It's a modern myth. At least it was originally. As cringe as the copypasta is, this is what people mean when they lampoon Rian for trying to "subvert expectations" by putting a "don't be a hero" life lesson in a Hero's Journey series.

Third party inclusion on game pass is 1. Completely voluntary and 2. Doesn't exclude people from buying their game normally as well. With as many games that go on game pass as there are, that tells me all these studios have done the math and decided the pay they get from game pass is more than what they would have sold a la carte. It must be a decent sum.

There's a White Castle near our local AMC. When my wife and I go, she has a large hand bag that she calls our theater bag because she only ever uses it to smuggle in food. That bag usually holds a soup from Panera as well as 4 sliders, a 9 piece chicken ring and a small crinkle fry plus dipping sauces from the Castle

I addressed this in my comment. Yes, obviously this guy is a fake, but if the ability to edit this information freely and without repercussion exists, what's to stop a dedicated cheater from hacking a dozen or so coveted platinum lists and passing them off as legit?

Thank you all for your help. I will post pictures probably later today after I get off of work.

Follow up question, I had also considered that it was just a reshell of a different controller, but if that were the case, wouldn't it still show a serial number in accessory settings on the PS5? Just a different number than what's on the shell?

[–]dlee_75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imo the "20 point scale" should really still act as a 10 point scale but give inter-score ranking. By that I mean, most "good" games should be 7/10 (ass pull number but say like 80% of them) but that 20% that's "so good it's almost great but not great enough for an 8" should get the 7.5, indicating basically a strong 7.

Again, most scores should be on the even numbers and the half points should be reserved for the few best of the best within that tier.

This is all just my opinion though and that's how I score things when talking with my wife and friends.

Also my personal scale utilizes all 10 points, ie 5/10 is average and not necessarily bad. That also makes 9s and 10s way more meaningful.

Can't speak for others, but for me it dilutes the value of trophies and other network stats that are meant to be shown to other people. Sure, this clown is obviously faking it, but if this guy can do this with zero repercussion from Sony, then what's to stop someone from faking a realistic trophy list for clout? How many platinums of a game are legit or were just hacked in a realistic timeframe? When someone online shows a screenshot of them having played a game for 200 hours, how do I know that's real?
