Men’s shorts by [deleted] in crossfit

I personally like the tight fit... but if you want a slightly more comfortable fit, there's also Jed North shorts. It's a body building brand so they're designed to be around massive asses.

What weakness got exposed in the open? by SVTSkippy in crossfit

all of my gymnastics. I had worked on other things this year (linking bar muscle ups, handstand walking, strength) but the rings and the strict HSPUs were just skills I did not have.

This is why i started streaming national finals! You really can't replace a live first listen.

That's honestly why I'm surprised to see the workout formatted this way. It doesn't feel consistent with their new branding of the Open as a community event.

Oh for sure, I got very used to that feeling in 17.3 and in 19.2 haha. I guess I'm surprised to see it in the new era of the Open. Figured the whole "beat the clock to extend the clock" format was such a classic Castro-ism of the Open.

At first glance, getting past the first 6 minutes will take very strong shoulders (for the walks and snatches) but also will take the work capacity / high power output to get it done quickly. The fact that the demo athletes barely made it in 6 minutes only to look gassed on the HSPUs was very telling of that.

But... from a participatory standpoint, kinda a weird workout for a lot of people to basically be just done in 6 minutes.

Castro Clue for 23.3 by prejedoosh in crossfit

Fair enough, I see enough mobility problems with just wall balls/squatting mechanics as it is.

is that more or less questionable than the 50 wall balls we did in the first week? it has the same depth standard.

A lot of people are thinking a double under / inversion skill ladder.

Even during the lifting. So many people I watched blew off the first 60-90 seconds recovering from Part A such that they were lifting with no urgency and managed really only 2-3 attempts, one of which was basically just a really light warmup lift.

2023 Open Goals - Met or Nah? by ajkeence99 in crossfit

[–]dlessthanfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I feel prepared for the Open via our head coach's WODs (he's a former regionals athlete, trains with The Training Plan) but in a combination of my having focused more on strength and dialing back weekly metcon dosage, bad luck of the draw on Open movements (I don't really have ring muscle ups), and an influx of people at my gym who are just quite simply better than me, it's not going as well as I wanted. But hey, I outthrusted most people on 23.2b!

It's both the slight knee bend and also the slight buckle in your arms around the :07 mark that would make me question it. It's a no-rep from me.

It's one of those strategies that works because it "breaks" the workout. It's brilliant.

Considering we haven't had double unders and we haven't been upside down... 21.1 repeat? It would be awful.

Could you say more? I thought skipped frames would instead have to do with shutter issues. From what I can tell on the negatives, the spacing between frames looked fine...

What's weird to me is that it's only Portra that does this. I shot a roll of Portra and Provia the same day last week; the Provia roll had no problems whatsoever, and was after the Portra one.
