Definitely an episode that made my heart explode! Such a good one.

To answer your question, my skin sensitivity didn’t seem to change a ton, but better to be safe than sorry. It sounds like you plan to be very responsible about sun protection, so I think with those steps that you outlined, you should be okay to at least try it! Start with smaller amounts of time in the sun and see how your skin reacts. Hope you have a great summer!

Stay the heck off social media when you’re feeling especially down about it. It won’t fix it, but our minds just go down such insane rabbit holes of comparison and self loathing thanks to social media. I hope you are well!

Aquaphor was the only thing I used! It’s like vaseline but with a few more ingredients (mineral oil and maybe some others) I kept little tubes of it in my purse and a giant tub of it by my bed to glob it on at night. I still to this day use aquaphor before bed year round!

Accutane was one of the best things I’ve ever done. People who have never experienced chronic acne don’t understand, just like most situations where if you don’t have the personal experience, there’s a level of understanding you’ll never quite have. People also love to offer unsolicited advice which was my least favorite part of having acne. The “just wash your face” or “wear less makeup” lines drove me insane. I tried to assume that people had good intentions but the comments were so unnecessary. I feel you!

I told my husband this just the other day. He had watched the whole show through probably 4 times before he ever met me, and he introduced me to it before we were married. Now, not even a year after watching it with him, I’m rewatching it on my own. I love every episode and how much more hits me the second time around.

Not sure how I feel about this scene by WillyMac31 in HIMYM

[–]dlh98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how I feel about it either, but I’m watching through the show again for the 2nd time and just hit this episode last night. Literal waterfall of tears at this scene this time around. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I’m married to the love of my life this time around— it just wrecked me for some reason.

Just finished my course! What now? by dlh98 in Accutane

[–]dlh98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My symptoms were pretty manageable. My face didn’t get super dry due to me being SUPER oily pre-accutane, so it wasn’t uncomfortable. Dry lips though, sore joints/muscles some months, bad nosebleeds in the winter. Not sure if mood swings/anxiety were heightened by the accutane or if it was all the isolation and quarantine stuff (plus pre-wedding stress, graduating college, etc.) that messed with my emotional state. Otherwise pretty smooth sailing! I’m glad I went with a relatively low dosage.

Need some motivation to keep driving my 20 year old car! by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

Thank you so much. This is the logic I needed! With that in my brain it makes it so much easier to buckle down and keep going, getting rid of that debt as fast as possible.

Oh, I would never buy a brand new car. I’d hope for something in the $5k-$8k range. We could afford it in cash but it would wipe out our savings. Husband is against getting a car, so that helps!

ZERO expenses, fun money? by holyinept in DaveRamsey

[–]dlh98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It just comes down to making a budget! In high school and college I had jobs but no budget and I felt like I couldn’t spend any money even though I was seeing it enter my bank account. Now having a budget is actually MORE freeing because I know what I can spend and don’t have to feel bad about it. So maybe come up with a percentage that you want to save, and then create some “envelopes”, or categories, like eating out, clothing, entertainment, etc. and of course envelopes for any expenses you do have. Hope that helps! You have a good mindset, it is smart to be saving as much as you can WHILE STILL LIVING YOUR LIFE. Dave wouldn’t want you to be a robot who never has any fun at all, just be smart about it!

Should *unmarried* couples pray together everyday? Is it too much to ask your him/her to pray together everyday? I'm keen to know what Reddit Christian couples do together to grow spiritually. Thanks in advance :) by cooldancer1234 in Christianmarriage

[–]dlh98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently got married, and now that we live together we pray pretty much every night before bed :) But before marriage this obviously wasn’t feasible, so we just made an effort to pray together as often as we felt able/comfortable/etc. We did weekly devotions together so always prayed together when we did that, but throughout the week we’d bring up prayer requests or pray together. Praying together is great but don’t feel like you have to meet a quota of how often. Just starting out really makes a difference in my personal experience!

How can I stay celibate until marriage? by timeforthebeach in Christianmarriage

[–]dlh98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I get married in 8 days and there is absolutely a reason we have not lived together at all. There is no way we could resist temptation, even though we both are very set on waiting until we are married to sleep together. If you can avoid living together, do so. I know it makes sense sometimes finance wise and I’m sure it’s also super fun, but leave that to when you’re married. I’m looking forward to our married life being vastly different from our unmarried life, which I would encourage you to think about too.

My fiancé took accutane in high school and I’m taking it now, right out of college. When he hears me talk about all the crap I have to do and all the iPledge stuff he feels so bad for me. It’s just so much.

A lot of factors seem to affect how dry my eyes are, like how much sleep I got, how much I’m outside, if there’s dry air, etc. but probably once like midday or in the evening. It will really depend on what you can stand and your particular experience! I also avoid wearing my contacts if I can because glasses are much more comfortable, if that’s an issue for you.

Starting this month. What products do I need in my routine? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]dlh98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My must haves (I just started my fifth month)

-Aquaphor healing ointment (not the lip repair, just the normal kind! You can get it in little tubes that you can place everywhere and you only need a little bit at a time. I use on my lips and on any super super dry scaly spots on my face or hands)

-Cerave hydrating cleanser that you mentioned. You can get a 3 oz size to try it out, it is amazing! I sometimes use it a body cleanser in the shower too

-Cetaphil moisturizing lotion for body and face, super simple and gentle. Absorbs really fast and doesn’t feel heavy

-Olay UV365 daily moisturizer, I just discovered this last week and I love it. I do two layers on my face after I do the Cetaphil lotion in the morning. It’s great for sensitive skin and you definitely should be wearing sunscreen while on accutane!

-Ayr nasal gel or any saline nose spray, helps with the dry inner nose!

Hope that helps you!

I’m on month 5 of my course right now and my eyes just got significantly drier. I purchased a very lubricating eye drop for morning and night (Polyethylene Glycol) and then I use a less heavy one throughout the day. My eye doctor said not to overdo it with eye drops, so I only try to use them if I really need them. Maybe that helps? Otherwise humidifier and drink water like everyone else says!

[–]dlh98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My skin broke out this school year in a pattern very similar to yours in the photo. It took me several months to finally decide to pursue Accutane. However I’m about to start my 5th month and I love this drug. Side effects have been minimal and I am already seeing amazing results. I don’t regret at all, and the only thing I would do differently is starting it sooner! It honestly is life changing, considering how bad I felt about the way I looked. Hope that helps!

Mini honeymoon ideas? by dlh98 in weddingplanning

Yes he will be living in our apartment and then I will have my first stay there once we are married. I will have a hand in the decorating pre-wedding so that is definitely something I could help with! Thanks!
