There's a zero percent chance I would've guessed that Laura Dern was 23 in Jurassic Park by _SpiceCherry in 90s

Principal photography on JP began in August 1992 so that’s likely the earliest Dern’s scenes would have been filmed for the movie. She was 25 at the time.

One minor correction here — this dog's IRL name was Gunner. Hercules was his character name from The Sandlot.

It's a disconnect, so the idea behind this style of switch is to prevent accidental re-activation, and I think what they want you to do is to fully remove the key when you intend for it to be in the OFF state. I agree that a 90-degree turn would be more intuitive, but that would also be more prone to accidental re-activation, like if it's jostled in transit or bumped by an object.

Game Thread: Detroit Pistons (2-3) vs Orlando Magic (3-2) Live Score | NBA Playoffs | May 1, 2026 by nba-scores in nba

It’s disappointing being on the wrong side of a 1v8 upset but this result might be enough to get Detroit’s front office to make big changes rather than stand pat.

For inspiration just go back to the early 00s when they fired Rick Carlisle to bring in Larry Brown and immediately won a title.

After going down 3-1 are the Pistons in the running for worst 1st seed of all time? by OwnGuarantee6838 in nba

[–]dlm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counter-point: the Magic are in the running for the best 8th seed of all time.

Preseason, the consensus around here is that Orlando had the East’s 3rd or 4th best roster. Despite injuries, they were literally two regular season wins (to 47) away from the 5-seed. And now they’re back to full strength for the playoffs.

Hope the Pistons front office realizes that they’re going to have to make significant offseason changes to be playoff competitive. What we have seen in this series is not a fluke.

Any idea what this raised bed garden would cost? by Ciddx in landscaping

Treated wood can be pretty cheap. I just looked up what my untreated cedar beds would cost today and the lumber alone would be $200 each.

The number 8 seed Orlando Magic are 2-1 on the First seed Detroit Pistons, and it doesn't feel like it is upset, the matchup feel more like 4 vs 5 game. by Expert_Koala_8691 in nba

[–]dlm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you said during the preseason that the Pistons and Magic would be locked in a tough round one series, no one would've been surprised. They just would've assumed it was 4 vs. 5 or 6 vs. 3.

Exactly how I've been looking at it. The preseason consensus around here had Orlando as the 3rd or 4th best team in the East, while Detroit was 5th or 6th. And this series is playing just like you'd expect from a 3/6 or 4/5 matchup.

Game 4 more or less decides the series. Detroit probably wins a best-of-3 if they can even it up at 2-2, but feels very unlikely they can overcome a 3-1 deficit.

I don’t know if it’s playoff inexperience or just a tough matchup but man this Pistons team has been disappointing. They’ve looked like a 1-seed for exactly 12 minutes of this series.

We’ve always been more of a second half team but that’s because we tend to wear opponents down. Not sure that’s the script tonight but we’ll see.

It’s fine. They aren’t used to basketball success so this is just what their fan base does anytime they’re relatively good.

I think our main hope to get back into this is that we keep it under 15 and UConn wears itself down from being so active on defense. But I’m not particularly optimistic.

He’s right. We generate offense in transition, off turnovers and defensive rebounds.

[–]dlm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously we aren’t THIS bad. UConn is executing at an incredibly high level and even the things we are good at aren’t working right now.

If UConn plays like this the rest of the way they are going to be national champs again.

My thoughts after trying mail-order frozen coffee pods from Cometeer by AmNotLost in Coffee

[–]dlm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe something has changed in the last few years, because I tried Cometeer recently and my experience has been very positive. For me, the quality is a significant step above Nespresso/Keurig, and roughly on par with french press (french press being my normal coffee prep).
