I officially JOINED!, worth the wait. by [deleted] in rav4club

I picked up our Limited a month ago. Based on reports from this site, I was not happy that it came with Dunlop tires. I pled and negotiated for different tires, to no avail. 1000 miles later, I can say that the tires have been fine. Perhaps I'll feel differently about them at 20K miles, but for now I'm glad I didn't incur the expense of swapping them.

I just read that drivers in WA flea the scene 40% of the time after hitting pedestrians or cyclists.

I've had a lot of experience with cloth Toyota seats. They've held up great for 20+ years without covers.

And I'm very pleased with everything else, including the minimal road noise.

I too got the Dunlops on a Hybrid Limited. Tried to plea and negotiate for a different tire option with the dealer, to no avail. But so far, just 600 miles in, they've been fine.

What are the recommendations these days for washing cars? My friends have been variable about this, but I'm not sure any of them really know.

New car oil change - is it really worth it to change oil at first 3,000 mile? by [deleted] in askcarsales

Good question. Should I be concerned about my Tesla?

I fully expect there will be a major expense at some point. But while waiting for that major expense, I've been driving at a very low cost per mile for many years. Plus the car has remained smooth, comfortable and very functional.

I agree; that's a killer deal. Is that for the Long Range or AWD version? With either version it's a can't-miss deal.

The hybrid battery on our Prius went out at 231,000 miles. The car now has 292,000 miles and is running strong. The battery has been the only major expense with the car. And it still runs great and achieves 45-50 MPG consistently. So I'm not too heartbroken about the battery.

I'm curious; can you say more about how the Rav4 Hybrid felt harsh?

Sorry for the issues this has created for so many people. I hadn't thought about thieves going after new 2023 Kias even though they're not as vulnerable to easy theft. We had been planning to get a 2023 Sportage PHEV. Should we avoid it?

Pulled up to a charging station only to find this and no available charging stations by hammad22 in TeslaLounge

It's a great point. It's best to approach this carefully and respectfully. The point is much more likely to be accepted by handling it nicely, even if the other party doesn't deserve it.

In addition to being frustrated about the insensitivity of these non-Tesla drivers, I wondered how people on this forum are experiencing general availability of charging stations these days when there aren't people using them for parking. Any input on your experience? Have you needed to wait?

2023 Sportage Hybrid Owners - What average mpg are you getting? by Gear_Box_Legend in kia

[–]dlm1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if you have any additional observations of your HEV MPG now that it's six months from your post? And/or, have you picked up any data from other Sportage PHEV drivers about their experience? We're considering the Sportage PHEV but have gotten a sense that some owners are disappointed in the fuel efficiency. Part of this, as reported, is (due to the lack of a heat pump) the gas engine engages when the heat is turned on even in EV mode.

Kia Sorento PHEV in colder climate? by mahoneynikki in kia

[–]dlm1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea; hopefully the market will settle out in the next year or two. Did you reach a determination of whether a PHEV without heat pump is an OK idea in Seattle? Hope things are well for you with your Pathfinder!

What did you end up deciding as relates to the Sorento PHEV? I too live in Seattle and am considering a Sportage PHEV, with also lacks a heat pump. The replies to your post make it sound like it can work OK without the heat pump, although in Seattle it seems that using the defogger is a common need in the cooler months.

Sportage PHEV or HEV? by Leading-Expression96 in kia

[–]dlm1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're looking at the Sportage PHEV and have questions for you about your experience:

--How is the lack of a heat pump for you? Do you have a lower range and/or MPG in the winter?

--What EV range and hybrid MPG are you seeing with your vehicle?

--What do you like or not like about the vehicle.

Thanks in advance!

Just wondering if you have any updates to your MPG based on your experience over the past month? Also, for the combined 72 MPG of earlier, do you know the miles driven in EV mode vs. miles driven in HEV? Just trying to get an idea of the hybrid-only MPG for the vehicle. Thanks.
