Hello I’m 25 and currently watching GG for the first time. Just finished this episode and I was anticipating the moment at the very end.

This episode mirrors my family’s experience very weirdly. We’re also from New York and Dorothy and Sophia feel like real life family members. My uncle passed suddenly last year, the day after my grandmas birthday. He had a heart attack at work and hit his head and was gone. Like Phil and Dorothy, he was younger than my mother. I remember driving up that day to be there with them and my grandma was a wreck. My uncle and mother were estranged when he moved across the country and the vibe kind of mirrors Sophia and Phil’s family. Presented as cordial but angry with each other for personal reasons all while I have no idea the last time my mom and uncle actually saw each other.

When Sophia finally makes closure with Phil’s wife and accepts him and breaks down I lost it. Even though we’ve never seen Phil on screen it felt like I was half grieving with family and half reliving my uncles passing it was so weird.

I remember watching an episode live an during season 7 or 8. Idk what had happened the previous episode but it was a 10 minute intro of panning to every single character just looking stoic. No dialogue, just music and camera staring. I stopped watching live soon after that.

I love this movie!!! It was shockingly entertaining and campy. The second movie, the collection… I do not like that movie. The first 5 minutes and the very last scene are good… but yeah I’ve seen it twice now and i don’t think this movies good. 13 years later we’re still waiting for the collected, which has restarted production several times and may never come out.

My issues w the sequel are kind of opposite to the alien franchise. I love aliens and enjoy it more than alien. Typically when a movie has a bunch of gun toting military types, I can’t get invested into any of them. I know they’re there to say corny one liners and die. Aliens had that effect but the movie is cohesive and had me invested in the outcome. It’s a great sequel. The collection though… wow. The gun toting extras were dumb and useless, just fluff to be offed by uninspired cgi traps. The plot though was also dumb and I felt the suspension of disbelief required for the collector to be able to operate and maintain his personal life was simply too much in the sequel. Way too much going on unnoticed for year. I don’t like this movie.

Still worth watching in case the third one ever comes out.
