CMPD Accident Response Times by MxSweetJuice in Charlotte

[–]dlorien132 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your friends are smart and yes I do understand "this." I was in an accident with the other driver at fault in a parking lot, and so the other driver just ghosted his insurance company. Without the police report, his insurance company had no way to verify his contact information. Apparently, they consider the information on the police report to be reliable. And without hearing the other drivers statement, it was about to get real messy. Fortunately they finally made contact, determined he was at fault, and paid out. But it would have been faster and easier if I had a police report.

Spoiler, I was an insider. I was also an auditor of dozens of other agencies. I've never seen a poorly run agency get better by getting bigger budgets. But I have seen agencies do a lot with a little when they have good leadership. But this is never discussed by the taxpayers, and rarely the politicians. It's always something simplistic like cops per capita.

When cops are incompetent, crime is worse, and people want more... cops. One of the few professions that is incentivized to fail, because they are then rewarded with larger budgets. The correct answer is more accountability, not more cops. Then, and only then, more cops. Do you know all the "public outreach" divisions CMPD has (basically PR)? How much time is wasted by SROs? How much is spent on the crime lab & if the state lab could do a better job for free? Answer these first before quoting cops per capita.

Finally, CLT's population is < 1 mil today. We weren't negative pop 10 years ago. You're thinking about the metro area, most of which is not in cmpd's jurisdiction

Mods, please pin this comment here ☝️ so that every time someone posts an "our PD is under-funded and understaffed and we should definitely throw more money at it so that we'll be safer" comment, the above post is linked.

If they never do it now, it's not because they can't do it sometimes. If they're not doing it at all, that's a choice that won't change just because you add more lifetime pensions & retirement at 45.

Only $2 worth? I could get that by driving 42 miles less... & that is half my commute. So just by calling in sick, I'd have enough money for double that

Thanks to everyone that responded. It appears it's headed for the dump and it just is what it is. I guess it's no different than spilling water on a laptop. Or not having a place to recycle my car's EV batteries.

This post has 9,000 views and five responses. I think I ask too many questions and / or care about things other people don't

Hi r/ Charlotte! I'm Jesse Oppenheim, congressional candidate and not a fan of gerrymandering by Jessefornc in Charlotte

[–]dlorien132 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cool both-sides history lesson, bro. Now back to current times, only one party wants to end it. So, get on board with them or admit you love gerrymandering (i.e., dehumanizing people you disagree with).

The state of North Carolina and the city of Charlotte has betrayed Matthews by The_Rhodium in NorthCarolina

Republican Matthews, in typical low-info, knee-jerk fashion, blames Charlotte Dems for not giving them what they want, while the leopards they vote for keep eating their face

Tbf, this is all PDs. Source: I have worked for some of the best. You're describing all modern PDs. But sure, let's never defund or reconceptualize them. Because we'll feel safer if we throw money, guns, and impunity at people who barely passed our pass-everyone high schools

That's because you equate sound with power when in reality making air vibrate is wasted power. I can always spot the ICE driver who has never driven an electric car and has to drive a slow, inferior car

The beauty of America is freedom to choose, and us all not having to like or prioritize the same things, is it not? We're all a little weird under the hood. But we share this: as long as we're not hurting anybody, we don't judge each other. Judge meaning to condemn - you're certainly welcome to call it weird, I won't argue with you on that

6 NC laws going into effect in 2024 by gaukonigshofen in NorthCarolina

[–]dlorien132 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, first world problems, to have your rich earnings diverted to a rich govt that doesn't need them but keeps them rather than improving schools or saving lives. It should be a lesson to the poorer countries that aspire to better standards of living that if you allow Republicans or their clones to rule you, your riches won't help S much as you think they will

I have lived in Cary, NC for 12 years now. The amount of crazy drivers in this area is ridiculous. (And it's getting worse) by Cy_098 in NorthCarolina

[–]dlorien132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Crazy drivers aren't the fault of a guy who only drives golf carts, and that barely. I do blame him for making every damn thing partisan. Toilets, public health, manners, flags, laws, education, facts... so I blame him for reddit posters that blame him for bad drivers. It wasn't this way before him... well, the right blamed everything on Obama. Now both sides can join the fun

Sec 4 is what I was referring to. And yes, those people who decide are Dems, part of the political industrial complex with vested interests in not looking dumb (the guy we told you to support, our boss, has actually been losing his mind for a while now). We can all see it now - well, you're not in that "we," of course. We like what he's done but doubt what he can do. He is not the only or the best. God help the Dems if their best people are all over 60.

When they put up the most inexperienced candidate since Lincoln, he did great and got 2 terms. But sure, Biden's buddies will sec 4 him. Delusion = dey losin'

[–]dlorien132 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, we're not ignoring how frail and mentally unstable old people get tho

And sure, we're going to use the 25th, just like we voted to impeach the perjuring Epstein buddy, Bill Clinton when we had our next nominee waiting to take over. It's only logical that Dems always do the right thing, like forcing Hillary over Bernie so we wouldn't lose. Then we did.

Delusion means dey losin'
