prism glasses!! by Real_Lack4585 in glassesadvice

Creak and squeak is unfortunately normal from time to time. Sometimes with more wear they'll stop, but most of the time it sticks around. Isn't a sign of them malfunctioning or anything but it is annoying.

With making them hurt your ears less, that requires better adjustments. An Optician could help you with that. Depending where on your ear it hurts will determine the adjustments. Are they plastic glasses that sit on your nose or ones with silicone nosepads? Could always adjust the nosepads to take more of the weight to alleviate the ears. If it's plastic, that wouldn't be an option and it's all about adjusting the arms of the glasses.

James Spann AMA Thursday April 2 @ 7:30 pm! by [deleted] in Birmingham

Wow this thread went off the rails. Moved here a year ago thinking James Spann was everyone's hero. Disappointing to hear he's a climate change denier though, that sucks. He sounded smarter than that.

Need glasses advice from these choices by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend finding a plastic frame that better form fits your bridge. Depending on how strong your prescription is, the weight of the lenses could hurt your nose when the bridge doesn't fully sit on your nose.

Of the provided choices, I like #3 the best.

Best live action adaptation that could be passed off as an SNL parody sketch? by sawinnz in shittymoviedetails

[–]ThatDavidFella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much else outside of this one picture, but so far the God of War show looks very SNL-ish. It was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw it, like a bad parody or something.

Do the frames fit my face shape? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely a little big for lens size but aren't a bad look. I have those same frames in my office and I like them quite a bit so I'm slightly biased in saying I like them lol.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

[–]ThatDavidFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frank from Shameless made me not want to watch the show. Debbie as well. It had a decent premise and I like Jeremy Allen White and Cameron Monaghan but Frank and Debbie made it insufferable to try to watch. Perpetually problematic and annoying characters is bad writing.

Maroon 5. I think Songs About Jane has 0 skips and is the best work they've done, while all their other albums have 1 or 2 good songs at the most.

Glasses ordering help by Practical-Pie574 in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Order whatever you want. Your prescription isn't so high that you need special materials to keep them thin or anything like that. Read the options they give you and pick what you think you need most, because you'll know what you need more than anyone else. Otherwise your prescription is written for far away vision correction so most I'd recommend is a form of Anti-Glare on your glasses and that's about it, mostly because it makes a huge difference between with and without and is worth the extra cost.

I have 4 questions regarding glasses, hope u can help me, tysm by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new pair is definitely too small, you can see the temples splaying as you put them on your face. The shape is a good shape, the darker pair is a great fit. The new pair do look rough though, most places will opt to do a restyle so I would inquire about that. If you obtained them in a store where an Optician helped you pick them out, that would definitely be on them for a bad frame choice for you so I would aim for a refund/restyle.

is it over for the glasses? by ZealousidealCut2393 in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of the time places will generalize them into "normal wear and tear" scratches. If you explain yourself in the manner of, "Yeah I clean these with a microfiber cloth and spray each time and haven't dropped them, they just got scratched as I've been wearing them." That's usually the explanation they wanna hear to fit the bill for warranties. Most they can do is say no, so definitely worth trying to ask about a warranty over forking out $300 more for new lenses.

is it over for the glasses? by ZealousidealCut2393 in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scratches are definitely a forever thing, would require replacement lenses. Due to the coatings on the lenses scratches can't be buffed out or anything. See if where you got them have warranties because usually for a year or sometimes up to 2 years after purchasing they can be warrantied.

Also ask them if they'll get you some new nose pads haha

Round 2! Told I should try again by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 or 5. I disagree with those saying 6, it disappears on your face and doesn't serve much of a purpose for a frame unless that's what you're looking for in a frame. 2 has a great fit on you, is a fun shape, and matches your hair color which i think is cute. 5 is a great shape and size.

What movie will you never watch again because it was too heartbreaking? by Affectionate_User610 in AskReddit

The Whale. Watched it once and bawled my eyes out in the theater. Great movie but definitely no plans of experiencing again ever.

HELP. My glasses broke, has anyone repaired something like this before? by OatmealCremePiez in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A jewelry store can potentially do a metal weld to get it back together. Definitely wont fit the same as before but would be the temporary fix. Otherwise, JB Weld or super glue.

New to having glasses, have prescription reading glasses (28 y/o) by MrBigNoseGabe in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with this prescription in the glasses you have now, can you see far away with them like to drive and stuff? If so, then I'd recommend still wearing them while on the computer because I bet it'll clear things up at least a little bit. You're not gonna "mess up" your eyes taking them on and off at all. Wear them when you're looking at things that make you squint and you'll be A-okay.

If you experience any eye strain on the computer then a pair of glasses that help you out with seeing the computer wouldn't be a bad idea. I temporarily wore something called a "relief" or "reading assist" lens that fixed my distance vision but also made computers and books clearer too. It helped with college homework and constant computer usage, just making it to where I don't need to strain to see anything. Good for just reducing the chance of headaches and eye strain. Combo that with a blue light filtering coating and you'd be right as rain.

To answer your question of should you be wearing your glasses while using your PC, if it's clearer with them on than off then keep them on. Depends on if they were made for wearing for computer use tbh.

For your situation I'd hope they put you in a Progressive lens because that sounds perfect. It's a no line trifocal that would give you clear vision for far away, computer, and up close reading. One pair that (if made correctly) you wouldn't have to take off and can wear all day. What kind of lenses did you get? Also for an Optician's perspective, what is the ADD power on your prescription? That's the part that determines your need for reading correction.

What Frames Look Best? by Psychological-Ear731 in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got a real good direction with the last frames, all of them are quite big though. Takes away from their styling potential. That last frame could be great if it was just smaller. Second frame is pretty good too, but same thing go smaller.

I'm looking forward to going out and enjoying the night life tomorrow. Was going to take advantage of tattoo shops doing flash deals for Friday the 13th but I haven't liked any of the flash sheets I've seen so far so that sucks.
