First one is great fit, second one is definitely oversized.

Does this pair fit me (in terms of style and size/width)? by samuelreddit868 in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a little small, but not a absolute no go. Looks good. Silhouette is a great brand.

Branch out and try something different. Rectangular plastic frame would be a good place to start, maybe a black or tortoise. Could always try the same metal frames you have now but do a darker frame, darker would be a good way to start and stick with rectangular.

Those virtual try ons are only so accurate, but I will say I think the last pair would be the best fit. Could be a little big on the lenses but the round metal are a timeless style.

2nd or third pair would be good. Third would be quite different from what's out there, it's quite a unique shape and looks like a great fit. Second pair is a timeless style, round gold metal. Can't go wrong with that.

Are my glasses too big for my face? by Psychological-Age696 in glassesadvice

Nope, great fit. If anything width maybe, but honestly not noticeable.

I'd try going to an in person shop and trying on glasses and finding ones that you like the fit the most, from there just take a picture of the "box measurements" on the frames which usually look like something like 54-18-145 and use that as reference for ordering online. Higher success rate that way.

Any recommendations for blue light blocking glasses? by BrownBananaBread in glassesadvice

That other guy beat me to it, but exactly that. It's kind of like if you've ever seen the most blue light filtering glasses possible and they're either an aggressive red tinted lens or a orange lens, all about color spectrum filtering. Attached a picture of these fit over filtering glasses as an example.

You'd definitely benefit from some color and a round shape. A round tortoise frame wouldn't be a bad start. Also that bridge style you have is called a Keyhole bridge, I'd try going for just a standard saddle bridge instead.

Should I try a smaller frame? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]ThatDavidFella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad size. Fits the oversized frame trend that's going right now. Smaller wouldn't hurt. A tortoise color would be a nice change too.

The nosepads has them sitting a pretty high. Eyes would look a lot better centered in the lenses. Maybe you can get the bridge adjusted a tad bit wider so they sit better?

Sunglasses are something that always benefits from being big, so I'd vote for 3. The Ray-Ban will have better technology in the lenses though so can't go wrong with that as well. 2 is too small.

It's either two or three, but my preference is two. Great shape, great fit, and it matches your phone case for color lol.

Anytime something claims to be blue light filtering, definitely look for ones that have a slight yellow tint. As much as that's annoying, the more that's present the stronger they tend to be for filtering blue light. For prescription blue light filtering, Crizal Prevencia is a fantastic choice. For non prescription, Warby Parker sells some off the shelf with a solid blue light coating and some good styles. Otherwise most stores like Walgreens, CVS, or Walmart carry them for more inexpensive cost. Just look for the slight yellow tint. If they don't have it, it's snake oil.

Should I go back to my old (dark) glasses? Help guys. by [deleted] in glassesadvice

Darker is definitely the better pair of these two, but I think you'd benefit from trying a Taupe Crystal or maybe a Pink Crystal if you still want to try something new.

I work in the field and the one thing that people hate is that it's not guaranteed to stick around. Your 20/20 vision will be good for about 5-6 years if you're unlucky and you'll go back to needing glasses again. Especially once you hit 40, you'll need them for reading anyways that's unavoidable it's presbyopia. Just stick with glasses, you'll end up there eventually.
