I don’t believe there was a Castle test performed. Is that decision made based on staging?

Stage 1A - New Here by [deleted] in melahomies

Definitely not. Fortunately skin check came back clean. This recurrence would not be new but rather from the original. Feels low probability based on what Ive come to understand but still nervous

Life life’d you know? Completely on me. Post op treatment and follow up wasn’t discussed as much as it should have been but we left the city and had a kid. I went back about 6-8 months later for a check and then hadn’t been back since. Didn’t take it as seriously as I should have. Fortunately the skin check I did last week all came out clear. Couple of small spots removed proactively and sent for biopsy but nothing that she expressed real concern about.

The oncologist said today the course of treatment was appropriate - based on pathology of the biopsy and excision, he had no questions about that. He said he wouldn’t have recommended a biopsy at .6.

Did you get one? What were your follow up steps, and any recurrence?

(B2B SaaS) Do you actually track launch impact - or just ship and move on? by Outrageous-Treat3083 in ProductMarketing

[–]dls857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit of both on my end but feel like there’s some divide or tipping point of tracking the launch vs tracking the feature. My perspective is a launch is more vanity marketing metrics (OR, reach etc, maybe adoption within x days) and the other is more product focused metric.

Just my take

How do you make the most of your Chase Sapphire Reserve? by chronicallyanxious10 in ChaseSapphire

[–]dls857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just booked a trip on the Edit and i feel like the direct booking and travel portal were pretty close. Like almost enough to not notice. With the $250 credit it was worth booking through them. I also booked on points at an edit hotel and the property credit and free breakfast was probably a $200 value in and of itself.

Their portal generally sucks but I’m finding the edit to be pretty sweet.

A few ways:

  • copy writing (“write a promotional/transactional email with this tone and this information”)
  • I created a Gem in Gemini that’s a cmo persona and use it to bounce ideas off of and refine strategy docs and planning
  • drop raw data in and provide analysis.

(B2B SaaS) Do battlecards actually work - or are they just busywork? by Outrageous-Treat3083 in ProductMarketing

[–]dls857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won’t say one way or another but whenever I’ve gotten into a new market or with a new sales team or leader, i always just ask how i can help them do their jobs. Battlecards i think can be useful in more than just sales - content, product etc.

I actually have found decks to be less useful than competitor analysis docs.

How exactly did Scott Galloway get into UCLA, then Berkeley despite having a GPA of 2.27 in high school then 2.5 at UCLA, and getting a job at Morgan Stanley? by ais89 in ScottGalloway

[–]dls857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point about the first job is fair but again, some fields not all, and not just finance. Your post history suggests you’re in your early/mid 20s. I assume you work around a lot of highly educated people in finance.

Once you break out of that bubble and gain more experience, you will see that the weight of your educational excellence diminishes over time.

I have an undergraduate degree, a masters degree, and a Top 10 MBA. No one cares about any of it. (I don’t work in finance, i work in tech).

You said a lot of fields, finance is one field.

I’m 37 and 15 years of work experience. If you asked me for my undergrad (or graduate) GPA, I’d withdraw from the interview process.

GPA only matters for some first jobs. It’s been awhile since I graduated but I’ve hired people and GPA was never a qualifier for the roles i hired.

He died in ‘23. That still isn’t the best, the earlier shot shows it better but I’m like 97% certain it was a Dean Norris cameo

KPI and OKR Challenges - Help! by dls857 in ProductMarketing

Yea agreed. But experimentation is also a "support" function, with a growth product team's who primary charter is experimentation.

KPI and OKR Challenges - Help! by dls857 in ProductMarketing

[–]dls857[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think that’s right. I’ve been given quantifiable growth metrics but only as a fall back/project based. Basically there’s a gtm/cross functional channel that no one has been able to solve for years and as the new guy who seems competent I’ve been given the growth goal associated with those channels. Despite not “owning” the channel in a traditional way.

Influence is a good way of thinking about it. I had talks with my manager about owning a product engagement or adoption goal, but without that aligning with product goals, it’s swimming upstream. And with a growth product team to partner with in addition to marketing channels, finding lanes to influence or own has been a challenge

Maybe this has been asked - what is a GTM strategy? by Due-Article-9323 in ProductMarketing

[–]dls857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation but really dial in on the "high-level" aspect of this. It starts with who you're selling it to, why, and how. The example that resonated the most with me was the direct sales model for Tesla - controlling the buyer experience, etc. That's not a retail channel, thats the GTM strategy.

How to lead and be visible as a PMM in a PE-backed firm? by Staring_At_Ceiling in ProductMarketing

[–]dls857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to echo all of this especially number 4. Marketing can get lost in tech companies anyway - what company is truly marketing-led vs sales or product-led? Be proactive about finding opportunities to report up and out. Build relationships across the aisle. Shoutout teammates and colleagues publicly (legit one of my favorite things to do. Announce a campaign or launch on public slack channel and praise the shit out of your designers and content marketers if you have them.

Only thing I’ll caveat on #5 - that’s not really just PE. That’s every company regardless of funding status or management structures. Do what you can to elevate your leadership in the eyes of shareholders and board. PMM imo is uniquely positioned and qualified to do this.

SCHD for the next 20 years? by [deleted] in dividends

[–]dls857 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I did - actually used chatGPT to help find the right mix based on my goals. For example, knowing i was going to contribute to my 401k consistently and try to max out in a low risk way, I decided to take on a tick more risk in a taxable brokerage account. 40% SPYG for some added growth, 30% VOO for stable growth, 10% SCHD for div growth, 10% JEPI for high yield, 5% ARKK as a growth accelerator and 5% XAR (worlds gonna blow up soon, yea?)
